Simple solution:  Buy a scale.

Got any measurements?

Guessing based solely upon a picture is a futile effort.  As you've noticed you'll get guesses all over the board.  No one really knows how long the fish is, what the girth is, etc.  Some simple measurements make the guessing process much more accurate.

If you don't have a tape on you then use your rod to get a length and then measure it when you get home.  The best method I've found though is just to cut lengths of line that will be the same as the length of the fish and one other one for the girth.

Im kinda like most of yall, when i got the mount back i wasnt impressed with the work he done........first ever mount so i was kinda excited, its all a learning experience.  As for the size, for some of you dummies saying its 3lbs, get real...its all of 7, possibly 7.5, thanks for everyones opinions though......more fish mounts to come hopefully ;)

ark,

What would you put this one at?

3 1/2-4LBs.....

and that is proof, that without a scale or accurate measurements your guess is nothing more than a guess and it even close to the actual weight.  You're going to always overestimate your catches and typically underestimate others.

That fish was 22" long and had a 17" girth.  It's much larger than 4 lbs.  My cheap berkley scale put is at 6lb 12oz.  After I weighed that fish I tested the scale and it is accurate at 5lbs but with 10lbs on it only reads 9lbs.  The fish weight calculator here puts the weight at 8 lbs (which I also think is definately too much).

well from just looking at your cheap ruler you got there its looks like about 12-13 inches.....no where near a 22inch fish, and no way is that fish 6lbs......4 at best

You're funny!!    ;D

BTW, a 12-13 inch fish is going to weigh like 1 pound so I guess I barely caught a keeper there.  Thanks for setting me straight!

I also think I should call Rapala and complain about their defective rulers.  They must have skipped 10-20 because the number 22 is right there by the fish's mouth.  Or I guess that could just be a random number.   ::)

Well, for awhile this thread was "entertaining",

but it's getting a little nasty and stale. Let's move

on.

Good night Irene
