Who needs rods, reels and lures?

Recommended Posts

Today was a first for me.

I was working in some thick hyacinth with my canoe.

Thought I had bumped a submerged rock when I heard and felt a thump.  Then I felt two or three more thumps.

What the heck.  It was calm.  I wasn't moving.  What the heck am I hitting with the boat.

Then behind me came a series of thumping slapping sounds.

I turned around, and bouncing around on the bottom of my canoe was a pound and a half largemouth.

The question is, does that fish count as a catch?  I mean, if you hook one, and it gets away it doesn't count.  But if you don't hook one and it jumps into the boat, then it should count.

interesting story.......

and in this case size does play a role i believe.....

@ 1.5 lbs, sure call it a catch.....

but, if a 10.5 leaped into the boat.......

i dont believe that one should boast that it was a catch.

funny how it just hopped on in with ya!!

Well Rhino, I guess it's up to you good buddy.

If you say it counts, then by golly it counts.

A similar thing happened to me.  I was in a canoe that was blown into some reeds.  As soon as I reached the edge of the reeds, I felt a thud off my chest.  Looking down on the canoe floor, there was a 13 inch bass flopping around.  For the record, I did count that as a catch, because that was the only bass I was able to put in the boat the whole day.

I always get asked while on the lake: how many ya got in the boat? Your fish was in the boat so it counts!

sure it counts and was it 1.5lbs or 15lbs lol.

You know, I'm not sure.  Maybe it was two pounds.

If I live long enough, it might become 15 pounds.

Now as I recall, it might have been closer to 2.5.  :D
