Whats your boat payments?
AMEN!!! That's why the Mrs and I will have the house paid off in the spring!! Got laughed at b/c of the vehicles we drive now people are coming to us for advice, especially after we upgraded her SUV. After the spring, we get two toys..my new (to me) car ...and a boat!

So my wife tells me...
Welcome to the "I have such a cool wife!!" club Mine is on me about us trying to rent boats so we can get used to using them before we buy one. She also was urging me to go deep sea fishing when we were on vacation (but we didn't have enough people to get a group). Hmm...i wonder if she's trying to go after my life insurance though. Not to hijack the thread, but I wonder how many of us have cool wives? Raise your hand!

Who needs rods, reels and lures?
Sometimes they get tired of swimming too and just want a ride around the lake.

How to practice casting
First of all, while you DO HAVE TO PRACTICE anything you attempt in life, you do need some sort of initial instruction/example. While some can hear about how to do something, others learn and retain best by reading how to do something and still many more learn by watching someone do it. I'm sure there's a market out there for folks who need a visual presentation to go out and practice. **Note: I'm in no way affiliated with this product and for daggone sure I'm not buying instructional DVDs **

Son's first fishing trip
Its a Shrek fishing pole. I bought it for him before he was born. Well if you ever need anohter mode, the lightning McQueen is a good one. I like it with an extra fast tip and medium action. I find that the sensitivity is very good and its not too brittle and likely to shatter as easy as say the Spongebob Squarepants line is. Ofcourse, if money is no option, go for Spiderman. You just can't beat it, its got its own special polymer line that science has yet to figure out. That matched with the strength, sensitivity, and light weight and you have an all round winner.

A month of fishing in pictures.
That's some good fishing right there! I definitely need to get out on a boat to get to some of the good spots. Bank beating is not as much fun.

They're all gonna laugh at you!!
He deserved to get a beat down for that. I guess he wasn't that hungry, huh?

Bass Fishing as exercise?
Losing weight = calories burned > calories consumed Gaining weight = calories burned < calories consumed If you're like me, you may get up early to have a light breakfast (extra light if there are no facilities around). Then most of the day has passed and you haven't eaten anything, especially any type of processed snacks (which are full of sugar, salt, fat, etc...). If you've found that you're losing weight, you're probably just running at a calorie deficit through consuming less; not because of the fishing activity. In the above equations, you may have burned, for example, an extra 100 calories out fishing but may have eaten around 500-600 calories less by not snacking. In the above scenario, i'm talking about someone just parking and sitting at a bank nearby or out on a boat, not those who may have to hike long distances or kayak to get to their secret spots. In those situations, it's the hiking and kayaking that's burning the calories. Of course, in the long run, too many reduced calories causes the metabolism to slow down (like when people always skip b/fast or lunch to lose weight), which will actually cause weight loss to go extremely slow or even cause a weight gain. **sorry for the long description...been looking at my eating plan recently to try to get back into some real shape. Also, that exta bit of StoK in my coffee didn't help. **

Spooling line: Manuel or Machine??
Crud, he told me he wasn't leaving until next month!

Salt impregnation
If you think about it, "impregnated" implies that it is actually a part of the materials that the bait is made from. The salt in the package is really for marketing so people can say..."hmm, this is better, look at ALL THAT SALT. There's hardly any in this brand!"

Blood on tail

Radio while fishing?
I pop one ear but from my Zune. Normally, would put in two, but since i bank fish, I want to make sure I don't have to put a hook into an onshore fish of the two legged variety. But, if I had a boat, something with some bass in it. Don't Bass like bass??

Finally got to join
Unfortunately, I can't access my main email from work so I couldn't verify for a while. Well, anyway, I'm a relative newbie to the fishing world. I have been fishing a few times over my life but there were years in between. In fact, for most of my adult life, the only times I've fished is on group outings where the place we were happened to have some rods and tackle around. Well, I got bit about three weeks ago when I decided to ask my dad to go out fishing. I didn't catch JACK (did have a few bites though) but had a great time doing it. Since then, I've been reading all kinds of info, especially about hook setting, and I'm looking forward to going back out. I'm so hyped that my boss said we may not have to come in to work tomorrow (Saturday). I'm an accountant and this is one of my busy times. The "bait monkey" hasn't moved in with me yet, but he has been trying to text me. Right now, I'm mainly hitting Lake Conroe and will also hit places around Austin when I go visit the in-laws. I would've gone to lake Bastrop last week but those storms were crazy. By the way, is there a "boat monkey" too? If so, I think he's not only trying to hit me up but has been calling the mrs. because after I talked to her, she's all about wanting a boat!! YES!!!!!! Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it) we're not going to do the boat thing for now. We're on course to pay off the house next year and probably two or three years after that we'll move into a new one on some land. THEN the boat will be there. We already plan to add a "boat port" next to the garage when we build the new house (yeah, we plan a long ways out). Wish we saved earlier because, in this economy, this would be the best time to build. By the way, can you tell I put an extra shot of caffeine in my coffee this morning?
