Nice fish! But probably a little more than halfway to 8-9 pounds given the length.

Thanks guys!! It felt like i had set the hook in a stump.Luckily the water temps are still pretty cold and she didn't have to much fight in her. But  i will say that she had no problem pulling drag out ;D

A nice bass but 6-7 lb. range , buy a scale and you'll know for sure.

I used the fish weight calculator on here but i was guessing at the girth. I did measure the length though. Unfortunately a scale is not an option as this was caught during..umm a "slow time" at work ;D ;D

I'm happy with a 6-7 lbs too, but i do know my arm was tired after holding it up and taking the pictures ;)

That's the ballpark I would think. FWIW - I've been fortunate enough to catch three 22" fish so far this year and they were 4.60, 4.87, and 5.31lbs for an average of 4.93. The fish in my lakes run skinny, and your fish has more girth, so the 6-7 range sounds about right.

On having a scale - put together a fanny pack with some basic gear and keep it with your rod. I keep the fanny pack in the photo in the trunk of my car so I always have it... ;)

BTW - what did you catch this fish on?

Is that a Lake Murray pig?

No unfortunately it is not from Lake Murray. It came from a  3-4 acre unmanaged pond in Lexington.  Hopefully i will be able to get some Lake Murray pigs when the whether warms up a bit.
