Spit

Featured Replies

If you missed it, In the new Field and Stream issue, there's a tip that says spitting on your lure will cover up any bad scents and may actually be an attractant for bass.  What's everyones thoughts on that?

Well, I know sometimes if you spit in the water, panfish will come up and eat it.  Maybe it's worth a try.

I read that same article, but haven't tried it. I looked on the internet to see if anyone else was saying the same thing, but couldn't find anything.

(Mostly just Spit'n'Image lures :)

I would think it works or at least, as the article said, to help offput other odors from your hands touching it.

My best guess is that spit, being an alkaline liquid, will neutralize some of the off-putting amino acids present in your finger residue.  I haven't seen the article, but this makes sense from a scientific standpoint.

I think I'm going to try it.  If I get any astounding results I'll let everyone know.

that sounds pretty weird...but hey if it works then il have a new technique.

It does make a good lube for cinching a knot though!

Ok, we have some mixed thoughts now,  I'm not so confident about it either so how about one of you tries it and then lets me know.  I'm too scared a little spit my ruin my day of fishing :'(

rofl u could always wash it afterwards or spray it with scent, even if i have a bad day out on the water i enjoy my surroundings.

it is nonsense...now that I think about it why not just spray a scent on...im sure if you were eatin some Salt and Vinigar chips that it would ruin my day...but now eatin some italian food might do the trick lol

Hmmm, will the bass like Copenhagen or Kodiak flavored spit...

:o

I've tried it but will never do it again.

When I popped the crankbait into my mouth to get 'er all spitted up, I sank the trebles through my tounge.

I don't know if it was the spit or the bits of tounge flesh hanging from it....... but that sucker did catch fish.

What's really sad NJ_Stump_Grinder, is that if we really thought you were serious, about half of us would try it ;)
