I have been trying to tie a lure to me heavier pound test lines. They are Monofilament and Flourocarbon between 20 and 25lb test. When I tie the knot and try to tighten it down it gets stucks half way throught the knot. I apply spit so that it will work but it still won't tighten up all the way. Any suggestions? By the way this is brand new line.

I'm not sure what type of knot your trying to try but I recommend the palomer knot for heavy lines.

I've tried the Palomar Know and the one I use alot the Improved Cinch Knot. The line is not getting tightened down all the way and I'm adding spit so it should go tied smoothly. Thanks for the reply.

b4 tightening the knot slide it down to you hook/lure and then tighten the knot will usually slide.

I really don't know what to say... It should work with the improved clinch knot.  I go salmon fishing using 30 pound test and never had this problem.  Try leaving more line at the end of the knot and don't cut the access line to close to the knot, leave about half an inch.  If you still can't get the line all the way tight, try the buzzbomb knot.  It is a preety good knot, but not as good as some of the other ones you could be tieing.  Or you could try buying new line.

Tighten up the knot with out pulling on the tag end. When the knot is firmly up against the hook, or bait tighten the knot using both the tag end and main line. What you need to accomplish is getting the knot wraps down to the hook before actually tighting the knot. Hope this helps.

Moisten the knot before tightening down. Try a uniknot also!!
