I a reservoir at sunrise, will the bass be more on the shady east bank where there is a lot of shady water, or hidden in the shady spots on the sunny west side where the water warms quicker? :-/

It's going to depend on the current water temp and type of structure on each side. If the water is rather cool then they'll probably be on the west side where the water is going to warm quicker. Just depends on a lot of different factors!

Excellent reply Skeeter, as you said it depends on the temperature of the water, during the cold months fish will be on the side the sun is shinning preferably on rocky areas, rock traps heat. During the warm months fish will be on the shade, they don 't need the warmth of the sun to heat them.

Sorry guys, I should have mentioned I'm in Arizona where the temp has been 90F for over a week.  8) The water in a 36 acre lake is 70F.  Im guessing that the reservoir will be in the mid 60s.  I'm thinking of starting in the coves, any ideas?

I'd say fishing the shade is a good bet.  A few weeks ago-I'm in South Texas-we were fishing a sunny day and all our fish came from the shade-we fished the shadows of standing timber and caught fish, but none from the sunny side.  Water temp was in the upper 60s and air temp in the 80s.  The shade also makes for a good ambush point-the baitfish can't see the bass lurking in the shadows.

I fish the early bite like you,and I'm also from a very warm clime (south MS).I love the topwater action early .As the sun gets up,I hit the the eastern side of the lake for 30-45 more minutes of topwater bite before going deep.It works for me.
