You aginst the "Pros"

Recommended Posts

What do you think would happen if any 2 Pros (say Davey Hite & Gerald Swindle) came to your body of water ( the one you know like the back of your hand and fish all the time).  Assuming they had never been there until next Saturday morning when you and your partner fished against them for an 8 hour tournament.  I wonder what the outcome would be.  Do you think they would win hands down, just because they are professional? Sure would be fun to try!

I think they would kill me dead.  This is why

1.  I'm only good for about 5 hrs on fresh water so they'll have an extra 3 hrs to catch up. (catch up, lol)

2.  They do this for a living, I bet I could deliver more stops if we both got in a UPS truck!

3.  They have more tackle

4. I lost my lucky charm last week

5.  I would let them win cause I wouldn't want to rain on their parade seeing how their parade is their job.  (yea, I'm nice like that, lol)

Gerald came to my body of water just a few months ago for a tx. (Clarks Hill) I talked to him as he was packing up his stuff to go. He said, and I quote. "I got beat like rented mule." I think I could have taken him on that day. That morning I put three over 5lbs in my boat just fishing for fun though. But on one of his many good days I would be toast.

I have often thought about what it would be like to fish from the back of the boat with one of these guys (I have even told my wife I would sell her car for a chance to fish with Gerald Swindle - that guy cracks me up ;D).  This is a lot like the "Day on the lake" series in BassMaster Magazine.  I always go to this article first and often re-read it several times to look for things that are similar to my "home lake" and conditions that I run into.  My guess is that they would beat me out, primarily because they know how to adapt and change with the conditions.  I am trying to learn this, but still have a long way to go.

Well, if it's my water it's the Tennessee River. If they have to play by tournament rules, i.e., artificial lures and I don't, I'll beat them 100% of the time. I'll catch more fish, bigger fish and the biggest fish just about everytime.

Bring Al or Ron Lindner down and let them fish anyway they want and I'll lose. Maybe not everyday, but most days. On second thought, I'll probably lose everytime. They literally wrote the book on live bait fishing for smallmouth (an In-Fisherman publication, Smallmouth).

I would literally get smoked, i have my spots but i still think i owuld get wupped, just because of my inexperience as i have not been fishing for 25 years like they have. But i would have a better chance than most people because, its harder to fish in the east and then suddenly fish a northwestern lake, its alot different than the south. oh well, overall i would get wupped.

I think I would stand a fair chance. 50/50 ;D thats good odds if you ask me! If youll notice most  of the pro events are won by whichever angler is most familiar with that region so I think if they came to my area I would stand a chance only if they were not allowed to prefish the lake ;)

Well I am fishing against the fish not them and I would give them a run for their money. I am not saying I would win but I might.

I would love to have a pro come to my lake.  I'll bet that he would use techniques and fish areas I never thought  of.

Of course I would kick his a$$  8)

I'm no pro, and have never done a tournament, but I produce fish for my clients daily with artificials only. I believe I'd give them a good run for the money.

No chance for me

I fish for pleasure and these tourneys are too much work.  I went out Sunday morning and caught 3 in 3 hours and then headed for the AC.  At 3PM I decided to go down the street to watch the weigh in for the Federation Team tourney.  These guys are not even pros yet, but I could not believe the number of 20 bags I saw along with a nymber of 7 and 8 lber out of water that is over 85 and in places approaching 90 degrees.  THOSE GUYS ARE G-O-O-D

                                CPR ;D
