Does anyone know of good fishing maps.  I am trying to find some for a spring trip down somewhere in MO.  My buddy and I are going to road trip, but we are trying to decide what lake/lakes to go to.  Any good map info would be helpful.

also, once you've chosen a location, you can use sites like www.local.live.com to actually see what the area looks like.

Fishing Hot Spots makes a good map.  It is water proof and tear resistant.  When I get into town, I hit a local tackle shop because they will usually have local, more detailed maps.

That angling-technologies website doesn't seem to work for me.  It won't let me pan across the map to center the area I want to zoom in on making it pretty much useless.

cgs2004,

It's a pretty clunky interface. see arrows on side of the map? oops, forgot to add, once you got the spot on the map , click the zoom icon above the map and then click on the exact spot to center... I don't use it much soo, could be wrong :)

I like the live local, switch to aerial and you can get a pretty dang good look at any lake you want.

Bobo... I tried the Angling Tech website and it looked pretty cool at first but never could get the underwater contours to display. If you know how I can get it to work let me know.

Any idea yet on the lake or lakes you'll go to?

No, we have not narrowed it down yet.  I think we are going to pick up a few Fishing Hot Spots maps for several lakes down there.  This will help us decide where want to go.  Have any of you guys used these maps before?  I think they are out of Wisconsin.  I have seen the maps everywhere.

When using hardcopy charts (HotSpot, Kingfisher, etc) you don't have the ability

to preselect coordinates until you're physically on the water. Using GPS software charts

you can pinpoint your waypoints in the comfort of home, without being on-site.
