Water Temp

Featured Replies

I usally fish from the shore and i was wondering is there any way for me to get the water temp?

Thanks

Hey Mike,

I fish both from the shore and my boat. My fish finder has a temp gauge but when I'm fishing from shore, I picked up a pool thermometer from Wally World. $6 for a little cheapo. It will give you a place to start and let the bass tell you what they want from there. Hope this helps!

I use a so-called "stream thermometer." This image is from Cabela's.

how far dose the thermometer need to be down to get the surface temperature?

The surface temp is just that.

For temps deeper, t-rig it and cast it out.

I also purchased an inexpensive pool thermometer from Wal-Mart for around 5 bucks or so.  It works very well, just tie it on the end of your line and cast out to the area you want to get the temperature.

I also T-rig my thermometer, but I peg the sinker about 6 inches ahead of the "bait".     ;)

;)  I have a much bigger problem:  every tiime I cast out my thermometer, some Big Mama Bass makes off with it.  This year I'm adding hooks.   :o
