Booyah Boogie Bait vs Chatterbait

Featured Replies

I like the Booyah Boogie other than the fact the blade tangles on one of every five casts. That just a lot of wasted time and casts for me. So I would go with a chatterbait or another knockoff.

I disagree, I love the boogie bait, it has great actiion, and I have never gotten a tangle with it.

I recently purchased some on the recomendation of some guys on here because I wasnt so sure about the leverage hook that was on them and they came highly recomended. I can say I have never been steered wrong yet by the guys on this forum. I am anxious to try them out myself.

I have never tried the Booyah Boogie Bait but my Chatterbait is okay.

I've used a bunch of the chatterbait knockoffs, and the booyah is by far the best of them.  I still like the rad lure chatterbait, but the boogie gives off great vibration and presents a nice big profile.  the components are top notch. My opinion may change when I catch a few on it, but that hasn't happened yet.

I am still trying to catch a single fish on any of the chatterbait style baits.  I mainly have Rad lures but I have two Booyah Boogies and I has sworn off buying any more of them until I catch a fish with them.  This weekend I was at BPS in Branson and I found a new color (Ozark Smoke) which is a light lavender & white smoke color which looks like a great bait.

I like the Booyah over all others for quality craftsmanship and the flexible hook is pretty cool.  The quality is a lot better than the Gambler Swimblade and the Rad Chatterbait plus, the hooks are sharp right out of the box unlike the Rad lures.  The trailers of the Booyah are a lot better quality and last longer.  I've had Rad lures trailers merge together while the tackle box was open on a hot summer day.  I usually keep the box closed but I think the heat still got to them and melted the two together.  I usually just buy replacement spinner bait trailers or use another plastic.

My fishing partner caught a few on white chatterbaits (Rad) but I've never caught one and I have tried many lakes and many retrieves.  I've had a strike or two but I needed a trailer because I was burning it back to the boat making it dance like crazy and little bass were nipping at it.

Lightning Rod has caught some really nice big bass with them. (Rad that is)

Adam i suggest the 3/8 chartreuse/green chatterbait. I think its the best color there is.

And i like the original chatterbait the best over the boogie bait.

I'm going to have to go with the Booyah Boogie Bait over the chatterbait simply for the fact that the Booyah has a bigger ring connecting the head to the blade as apposed to the chatterbait which doesn't. I think this gives it more action as well as more play when fighting a fish.

If Rad fixed their poor hook eyes..I had several with cracks, then maybe Rad would be worth another try.

Otherwise, I'd take the Boogie or the Gambler Swim Blade, which I like the best.

Not to post jack but since this is all about which is better, which retrieve is preferred over the other??  There are three retrieves that I know of that are the most popular.

1.) Very fast erratic retrieve (really makes it zig zag and dance a lot creating tons of vibration)

2.) the yo-yo retrieve (varying speeds that uses a retrieve pause method creating up & down yo-yo)

3.) smooth slow roll (no frills retrieve)

I wouldn't think that one vs. the other bait manuf. would have an advantage over the other but I can say that the Booyah does give off more vibration than any of the others.  I think it's the blade design and the larger wire loop on the blade that results in more vibration.

I'll add a variant on the yo-yo.

I will toss the bait to given target and let fall straight down to the bottom.  If the bait is not intercepted by a bass on the way to the bottom, I will let it sit on the bottom "deadstick" fashion for up to a minute.  I will then rip the bait off the bottom with a very hard jerk and thet let it fall straight back down and repeat.

I prefer the Boogie Bait to the Chatter bait.  I think the Chatter bait is poorly made compared to the B.B.

Gambler Swim Blade

I'll second that. The only problem is that on some of them the ring will get stuck in the eye hole but most of them dont and i like them best. I have tried the rad version, swim blade and boogie bait.

I have tried both and each seem to be about equal in number of fish caught.  If had to go on looks and quality, I'd say the Booyah.

I landed a 8 1/2 lb. bass this past August (06) with a chatter bait and also caught several smaller bass ranging from 1 to 5 lbs.  Even caught a 5lb. catfish with it.. I could not believe that... try the chatter bait and let me know what you think.

Booyah Boogie Bait.  Started fishing it and the Rad Chatterbait this past fall and have yet to catch a fish on the Rad.  That Boogie bait is a fish catcher for sure.  My only gripe is that it will hang up quite often.  Lots of structure where I fish.

Straight slow roll type retrieve has produced the best results.  Found that if you don't feel the vibration it is a good idea to "set the hook".  They will just inhale it and swim off with it.

Just purchased some of Venom's baits (Rattle Shake).  Am hoping the weed guard on this one will take care of the structure problems.

Shortbasser

I have had failures on the original chatterbait, the booyah is ok.

The best one I've found so far are at a company called red rock lures. They seem to be better quality. They have a website where you can see them and order. Just my two cents.

Tight lines!

I have the original rad lures, the booyahs, gambler swim bait, and a knock off version with a weed guard..I like the booyahs better except I fish in extremely heavy cover and it seems the booyah get hung up way too much..I liked the original rad lures but after 5 or so fish them seemed to break, and the gambler swim baits the 5 I bought for some reason will not chatter without an extreme tug of the lure...My best chatterbait I got from Senko 77 that he bought around athens ga..it has a weed guard chatters awesome and I can fish it in extreme cover with minimium hangs..

If open water..booyah

IF alot of stucture..knock off chatterbait..
