A little about me...

Featured Replies

So, I recently started posting a bit on here and I never took the time to provide a proper introduction, so here goes.

My name is Tre, I'm 25, and I live in Georgetown, Kentucky. Currently I work in the automobile industry, but I hope to move on to insurance underwriting in the near future. Until the last two months, I had hardly ever fished in my life. My father is an impatient man and after two trips with many crossed lines and an 8 year old who wouldn't shut up and wanted to eat the hot dog bait, and that was the end of any fishing for a long time. Luckily, he had kept his old poles and was kind enough to give them to me, and so my addiction began.

Anyways, I'm glad to have found this site. Its very obvious there are quite a few very knowledgable anglers on this site and I can see my grasp of bass fishing growing exponentially. I'll be the first to admit I still have quite a bit to learn though.

Currently, I am on a very tight budget (no boat, no fancy rods/reels just a good ol' Zebco spinning rod), so most of my fishing is limited to wade fishing the Elkhorn Creek. Haven't had too much luck yet, but I'm getting there. In fact, the other day, I almost posted on here to ask if using a curlytail grub as a trailer for a spinnerbait would be effective. Turns out, I didn't need to ask. I managed to pull in a 15 inch smallmouth. Put up one heck of a fight for such a small fish. Shame I forgot the camera, but at least my fiancee and best friend were there to witness the catch.

Anyways, I'm glad to be a member of such an active and helpful forum.

Tre

Welcome to the best bass fishing forum in all of everdom. ;) You will definately learn a lot here and do not hesitate to ask any questions you may have. There are a lot of knowledgable and experienced anglers who will try their best to answer your questions. And remember there is no such thing as a stupid question. We all like to look at this forum as a fantastic place to learn. Nice job landing that smallie and again welcome!

Well Howdy Tre  :D

It sounds like you are well on your way to havin' a lot of fun. :D

There is nothing wrong with using Zebco equipment or old tackle. It all works great as long as it's catchin' fish and providin' you with fun, memories and fish.

You have caught bass on your equipment, so you are well on your way.

Have you ever noticed that shore fishermen cast out from shore but boat fishermen cast in towards shore? Depending on where you fish, the guy on shore might just have the advantage, not to mention less bills. You'll get that boat someday. When you do, you'll cherish the memories of shore fishin'. And, you'll open yourself up to a whole bunch of new adventures in your boat. :D

Enjoy yourself Partner and keep wadin' that creek. Use what you got and have fun!

This is a super site.  Just ask and you will receive an answer.  Probably many answers.

Check out the library, too.  It is loaded with a lot of information.

And don't worry about your tackle.  You wll start to accumulate stuff like the rest of us and make some mistakes along the way, too.

Just go out and have a good time.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the boards! Watchout for the baitmonkey as he will stop in your head and then in your wallet pretty soon if you look/post on this forum regularly.

Oh, the baitmonkey has already taken hold of me. I can't even walk in K-mart to buy feminine products for my fiancee without having to run back and check their less than adequate fishing section. Plus, I've had many run-ins with the bait monkey having had my tackle box stolen this past month. Well, that and learning the hard way that crankbaits are not the best idea for a creek that's waist deep. Plus I have the darnedest time losing roostertails to that creek.  ;D

Hey Tre,

Welcome to the boards! This is THE BEST bass boards on the net! As others have said, if you have a question, don't be shy! Ask away! There are a bunch of great anglers here that are willing to help out however they can! Sorry to hear about your tackle being stolen and congrats on the smallie! Those little buggers, of whatever size, do put up one heck of a fight!

Welcome FEAR HE BAIT MONKEY
