On Toledo Bend the bass will go to pre-spawn even if the water is 35 to 40 degrees and as early as January.     8-)

What's y'all favorite pre-spawn lure and technique?      :-/

Rapala Husky Jerk Black/Gold for any temp below 45. It just works for me...

crank baits ..  rattletrap , big-o

Jigs.. almost always 3/4 ounce black and blue footballhead

Most of the water i fish is extremely shallow .

I don't really gear up for pre-spawn because I never stop fishing. I just change techniques and areas. I do tend to throw rogues in february.

Jerkbaits, jerkbaits, and once you get sick of them a quick slap in the face and some more jerkbaits.  I throw the 78 DD in american shad exclusively in pre-spawn
