Killer Frog

Recommended Posts

I HATE bull frogs.  I don't know how many times I've had to pull a hook out of one of those slimy things.  Not to mention hearing "Brrrraaappp Brrrraaappp" all night long in the summer.  I suggest cutting off the legs and deep frying 'em.  MMMMM MMMM

That is one crazy frog. I have caught them on pieces of nightcrawler before, but not with a bass lure.

I once caught a 20 inch bull frog on a white zoom horny toad.  The frog exploded up out of the pads and nailed the frog.  I didn't set the hook, but it was to late, some how the frog had hooked itself.   Sucked getting the hook out.   I had another bull frog hit one and I had to wait almost 2 minutes for him to spit it out because I didn't want to hook him as well.

The first creature I ever caught on a frog bait was a frog.

It was actually kinda cool.  My favorite frog from back in the day, was Bill Plummers Super Frog.  It had a plump spongey body and the dangling legs. It used a big weedless hook (todays version is Harrison Hode Superior Frog)

Anyway, I cast it to a patch of lilly pads, and it landed "splat" right in the middle of one.  Out of the corner of my eye I see something move.  It's a BIG bullfrog.

and it's heading right for my lure.  I give a little twitch and he pounces on it.  I set the hook and game on.   This was a loooooooong time ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the stories, the strories.   8-)

This summer I caught a frog on a jig-n-pig.  I was on the bank and the jig was in some shallow weeds near shore.  I felt a fish hit it and set the hook but I missed.  The jig came flying out of the water and smacked the back about 10 feet to my left.  Well, it must have landed right next to this big frog cause as I reeled back in I felt some weight and it was the frog.  Hooked him right through the tounge.  As I reeled him in he was trying to get away and his tounge was pulled out about a foot long.  He looked just like a frog in a cartoon!

That is one greedy-gut frog. That is a huge lure for a frog his size to attack. Never caught a frog, but I have come up with a snake while using some white grubs on a jighead. I just cut the line there...wasn't about to deal with that.

I caught a bull frog on a texas rigged 7.5" black culprit ribbon tail worm. I gave it to these two guys who ripped its legs off, put it on there fire they had, and then used the rest as catfish bait. It was pretty interesting to watch. :-?

Ive caught them before also, Casted to close to the edge with a 4" pumpkin power lizard and seen something pounce on it. Was a frog. Once pond I walk around gets CHOKED with matted grass and you could see all the frogs moving around. Took the hook off, tied my line around a hula grub and would cast it out..Theyd grab it fight them in shake it they would fall off and repeat. Greedy lil critters cuz some of the ones Id let go would grab it over and over.

just a note, frogs will bite anything red, fabric, cardbaord from a marlboro pack, a lure.Put alittle piece on a hook and present that, its pretty wild.  This old french men when i was a kid tought me that, then he would buy the frogs from me for lunch. He ate the legs i would go get ice cream from the ice cream truck.

That's neat although it lookes like the frog went limp and stopped moving so my guess is it's frog legs as an appetizer. LOL!!!!!

I caught a frog before. I hate those things. It was on a senko, a kinami one(it was blue with little sparkley things). I just set the rod down to pick up my bro's bass, and it ate my senko, ripped my senko.

My little "pond", or puddle has tuns of frogs, turtle, and snakes in it. No fish, despite our efforts to introduce them, they wouldnt live. Anyways, ill practice pitching by taking a bell sinker and casting it close to frogs. They inhale the sinker, and you pull them in and pull it out of their mouth. Kind of funny. They will even chase the sinker onto land
