hey im from fresno fishing at the san joaquin river on cobb ranch..i was wondering..i've been reading and everybody says that bass loves weed and logs..but the san joaquin river has a whole bunch of rocks..its the ponds and river floor is filled with rocks..and logs too..but i hardly see any weeds..is this still a good place to fish? there is a lot of crawdads and alot of trees for shade..i've caught a bunch of crawdads here..but there isn't much weeds in the water..just wondering if this is a good place to fish so i dont have to waste my time

When vegetation is not an option, most of the bass in the river, lake or pond will relate to structure.

that can still be a thriving fishery.  

I bet there is some kind of weed, somewhere in there, find them and you will have struck gold!!

Jigs are great around rocks.  Use a crawdad trailer.

Make sure to line up downstream and pull the bait back down the fish will line up downstream of the cover and use it as an ambush spot for anything coming down through the water.

Try flippin and pitchin a 4" Black/Red Flake tube on a 1/8-3/16oz bullet wt (pegged) and use a Gamakatsu G-Lock 4/0 hook in the grass and wood.

so there is a chance of bass bein around there? i tried fishin' with a senko but nothin'..i didn't see a single fish there..maybe because last night it was aroiund 20 degrees and when i came this afternoon some water was actually ice..is that why i haven't been able to see any fish?

The water is probably still to cold but if there is Bass in there they will around those rocks and stumps

in deeper water.

I agree with Low_Budget_Hookers, a jig with a crawdad trailer would work in those rocks.

thanks for the help..yea i know that they'd be in deeper water..but when i stand up on the rocks and climb on the trees..the water doesn't get all that deep
