what do you throw under dock and what technique?

Featured Replies

i was just wondering what kind of baits people threw under docks and what techniques they used , because most people ive fished with all throw different baits under docks.  so what kind of bait do you throw under docks and how do you work it?  i personally throw a senko t-rigged without any weights and i just hop it along the bottom.

I prefer something that skips well like a wacky rigged senko or a super fluke if the fish are hanging high under the dock. If the fish are relating to the bottom I'll throw a jig or shaky head worm.

T-rigged worm AFTER i've worked it a few times with a spinnerbait.

wacky senko, shaky head, and jig is about all i ever throw under a dock.

I treat docks like holy sanctuaries.  There are too many ways to catch fish on them.  I try to work the outside with collision/reaction baits like a swimming jig, spinnerbait, or crankbait first, casting past or behind the dock to be sure I dont' spook anything.  After that, I'll pick up a fat ika or a jig and work underneath, depending on the mood of the fish I've been catching earlier throughout the day.

Christmas trees... ;D  Er I mean 1/16 oz tubes, trick worms, zulu's, and anything else I can fit under there.   ;)

Swimbaits and drop shots!!!

Any kind of plastic that will skip, with a preference for tubes and Ikas.

In Brooklyn they usually just put the guys 2 feet into some cement and toss him right off the dock I hope this answers your question

I second Fourbizzle on the Swimbaits.  A six inch soft swim bait skips very well.  Other than that I skip a jig with a sweet beaver trailer.  Then I just fish the baits like I normally would.

kb here   skip a 1/4 oz black jig with a pork trailor   with a spinning outfit and power pro line use the power pro makes the jig fall slower  and hop it back out   work great in the spring and fall. summer fat ika.............  kb

I use a watermelon zoom double ringer T-rigged but i also put a nail in the middle of the worm so I can skip it farther.

right now my lake is so low that casting under docks means your fishing in dirt.

Well, maybe not that bad, but this drought better end soon, cause were running outta water down here.

Ordinarily I really like tossing a jig or tube under docks.
