Re: Your fishing pattern

Shew! I have been trying to think of what I would do and relize that there are way to many variables. Are you in a river, Lake , pond? How deep is the water you are on? What is the primary cover? Wood, Weeds, Rock? What is the primary food source? Shad, Bluegill, Herring, Crawfish? How about the weather? I could go on and on. If any members have a real good general pattern that works most of the time I would be interested in hearing their thoughts.

I came in this am and read this thread and couldntcome up with an answer,There is so much that goes into it how can you generalize it to any one element.Unless I read the thread wrong.

Interesting but no one has yet to mention a pattern, the quote in the morning during summer, bass are in the shallows feeding is not a pattern. That is the location of where the bass are, my question would be what shallow water? Shoreline shallow, shallow water ridge located off shore, inside grass line or outside grass line.

By definition pattern: a reliable sample of traits, acts, tendencies, or other observable characteristics of a bass.

I would be more worried about locating bass first which is the most important aspect of finding a pattern.  Usually, there is more than one pattern that will bring fish to the boat.  Of course, some will be better than others, but this is where the fun comes in.  You have to figure that out.  On days where the fish are inactive, you may try a number of patterns and have little success.  That's the way it is sometimes.  Find the fish by basing your search on the seasonal pattern, the weather, available cover, and using your electronics.  If you don't see fish or bait on your fish-finder, that's where you have to try different search baits casting to locations where your knowledge tells you they should be at for this time of year.  If you don't catch fish, learn from the experience.  Sorry, I don't have a general pattern for you, though I'm sure we all have three or four patterns per season that we have the most success with.
