The #$%*%^ bit me!

Had a bass that was deep hooked this morning.  Hook point just inside the gullet.  I've got my finger down his throat trying to push against the bend in the hook to pop it out.

Then the #$%*%^ thought my finger was a crawfish and tried to crush it.   ;D

I've done that with a lot of fish, but this little #$%*%& was the first to 'bite' me.  And he did it twice!

I've had plenty of catfish chomp down on my fingers, but never a bass. Guess I better start using pliers.  ;)

Catfish, yes.  You put your hand in a catfish's mouth and you're going to be missing some skin.

Like I said, I've done it a million times.  This one was the first to try to turn my finger into a crushed crawfish. ;D

Just be glad it wasn't a Alligator Gar like this one!

I don't think I'd be sticking my hand down the gaping maw of an alligator gar.  I'd just cut the line and let that ancient thing swim away.

i caught a dinky bass...when i got the hook out i decided to see if it would eat a pebble. so i put one in its gullet and nothing happened. so i poked the pebble and he took the pebble down and my finger w/ it!!! cuz they have these pads just infront of their gullet on the top and bottom that are hard and ahve velcro teeth just like the jaws. i wouldnt say it hurt but it was uncomfortable~~~ :-?

Exactly! Why in the world would you do something like that?

I am still laughing today when I think about Burley yelling "Owww the da#% thing bit me!!!"

Thought we had gotten to a tournament when we pulled into the lake and saw all the boats and trailers at 6:00 in the morning.  Had a regular floatilla of trout fishermen out there must have been 15 boats all achored within 50 yards of one another and just 20 yards off the best shoreline on the lake and the shoreline itself with even more trouters on it.   >:(

Maybe it was rabid ;D.

haha that actually happens to me a lot, my home lake doesn't really have any crayfish so the bass' teeth are sharp, sometimes to sharp to thumb them

;D You showed him. LOL

Can I give some constructive critisism on the fillet.

I cant tell for sure but if your cutting that tail portion all the way off unless you like cooking with the skin. If you go to just about the end of the tail and flip the fillet up you can then use the flat board to cut the fillet from the skin. It works a whole lot better then trying to hold onto the skin and cut the fillet off it.

I find it easier to remove the fillet completely from the carcass, lay it skin side down on the cutting board and then let the fillet knife just slide over the skin.
