Morning fishing

Featured Replies

For me personally, I always hit the banks first thing in the morning - usually with a top water (mostly a buzz bait) - but as soon as the sun touches the water I put it away and start hitting the offshore structure.  Depending on the time of year and the conditions, I may not stray too far from the banks that have produced fish, but I always pull out as the day goes on.

I do pretty much the same thing as Shad master but I will stay close to the shore for a little while after the sun hits the water and fish the shallows with a fluke or a jerkbait for an hour or so before moving out.  Find the shoreline that is closest the spots where you catch your daytime/afternoon fish and you should do alright.

If it aint the spawn then it's deep water structure  ;)

flats at night, the routes between the deeper grass and the flats as the sun comes up and then out to the grass once has broken the horizon.

Shad Master nailed it.....

Topwater along the banks in the early a.m., then when that sun starts to come up, I will go to a crankbait and work some deeper points or structure.  The crankbait also serves as a structure finder and if I contact something I will sometimes follow up with a T-rigged soft plastic or a jig.
