Mattlure Hard Bluegills Swim Baits

Featured Replies

I saw these on Tackle Warehouse.  They look amazing but cost 50 dollars.  Has anyone fished one of these?  Just thinking the male or female bluegill would be deadly.

I do not have one yet (been trying for to get one but its always sold out) but you will see they are very popular around here....In fact,  the guy that makes them is a regular poster here  :D

Form every thing I have heard, they are great baits.  Have not heard any complaints.  I don't have one but would really like one even though the fish aren't that big here  :-/

Here is a good review by Paul. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1223086973/0

It may just be my favorite swimbait since its a toss up between his hard and soft bluegill. :D My best day so far on the Hard Bluegill was  twin seven pounders caught on it fishing over grass beds last Fall. I can't wait to fish it the next couple of months. It will be a killer bait for me in March and April.

Thanks guys...another one I'll have to try and pick up before heading to Lake Murray in April! Darned Bait Monkey strikes again!

I purchased a slow sinker a few days ago. The bait looks so real you think you need to fillet it for dinner. Have not had time to try it yet but I am so impressed with it I am thinking about ordering the floater. Wanted the billed blue gill but he is not making it anymore. He has made a Perch and it is on Ebay and at last account it was about $130 bid. Only five was made.

The bait is so well constructed, its like art and is almost a shame to fish with a lure with such beuty 8-)

That looks amazing. I am just worried its too big for the water I fish. What size fish will hit a bait that big?

HEHEHEHE..... I just found a place that has them and HAD to order one.  I hate impulse buying. >:D

just ordered one too

I went w/ the floater.

Where did you find the billed bluegill at? I would like to order one also. I can find the floaters but not billed.

Get a floater if you are worried about losing it, but I would go with the sinking version. The detail of this Gill is truly amazing so much so I am considering getting rid of my Shellcrackers.

If a bass can get its mouth around the lure it will eat it. You would be surprised at the little 2lbers that have the balls to hit a 8" Rago Tool. The bass in KY are plenty big.

You wont find them  :D

I am a swim bait newbie...should I buy the floater or the sinker?

Depends on your fishing waters.

For example I'll use a floater when the bluegills are on their beds spawning and I can cast on the outside edge in a bit deeper water waiting for Mr. Bass to AMBUSH Matt's fake bluegill.

A sinker would be perfect for bass in deeper waters off points, humps, etc.

Solution get both!!
