tube jig head w/ or w/o rattles?

Featured Replies

I plan on fishing a lot of rivers this year, so I will likely be throwing a lot of tubes.  All I used to rig tubes last year were different weights of the "bite me" brand jigheads with rattles.  Anyone see a benefit/downfall with using the rattles???  are they necessary????

I don't think you need rattles, but you will need

a lot of jig heads and tubes. The fish may not

always bite, but the rocks will!

I don't know that rattles will help but they cant hurt. It might mimic the sound a crawfish makes scurrying across the bottom.

Try both ways and decide what works best for you.

I have fish tubes both with and without extensively now for two years solid.  I do seem to get bit more when using rattles.

A rattle in the tube will help in dingy water. I've been experimenting with rattles in my tubes for several years, and this is one conclusion I can believe in.

A second conclusion, that I hesitate to state, is that rattles seem to be a turn off in very clear water.

my answer to you .ghoti is for tube fishing with jig head i would pick rattles all time, great for fishing in lakes in south.
