What got you hooked?

Featured Replies

I can't say I have much bass fishing experience yet, but like many others here it seems, I got started on fishing panfish when I was young.

Dad would take me and sis out to fish bluegill a lot.  Take them home, watch dad filllet 'em up and have an awesome dinner.   I then didn't get the chance to fish much during my teen years & early 20's, but a buddy has gotten me re-hooked and now go up to northern WI each year for a week to long lake.  I'm so glad I have gotten back into fishing!

My dad use to take me fishing almost every weekend when I was a kid.  He worked the night shift for awhile and as soon as we got home he would pick us up and head to the lake with no sleep.  I guess he loved to fish.   He was not the best bass fisherman but he was always entertaining to watch.  He was sort of like a Bill Dance accident waiting to happen.  I sure do miss him.  I would like to think he is still fishing somewhere.

Hi guys I am new here so take it easy on the Newbie :D Mine would be that I was fishing for crappie last year and hooked a 10 inch bass and sufficient to say I was hooked too ;D

I got bored one day and decided to go fishin with a buddy and caught 2 dinks back to back on a crank. I came home googled bass forums and poof bassresource.com came up. Then i started looking at BPS.com and was joined by a little monkey then i REALLY became hooked on all the baits and rods and reels. Now im hooked on learning every possible technique there is and will never stop learning. I wonder what i would be doing sometimes if i never found this site. I wonder if i would still be fishing?

Mom. When I was a boy and summer school vacation started, she said, "I don't want you in the house all summer. Get the hell out of here!" I talked her into giving me money for a Zebco rod-and-reel combo at Bradlees, the local department store, and spent the summer at the small pond across the street from our house. One day at Bradlees, I used my allowance to buy a bass plugI forget which oneand on this topwater I caught my first bass ever. I cooked up the fish for my mother. After that, she would say, "You're not hanging around the house all day. Go fishing!"

the fact that all of my friends fished and they were good at it

i would go fishing with them and usually get shunked so i spent a whole bunch of money at bass pro one winter and have become a pretty good fisherman

but i will never forget the 5 pounder I caught in a pond that i had only caught little dinks in for days

My dad started me in fishing, and I have been hooked ever since. :o

fished with my pops and dad when i was a kid. we always caught bass but never appreciated it until a was about 25. for the past three years i have been obsessed. my wife calls it my addiction. i talk fishing to my dad almost everyday. I have to thank my pops for being so patient with me while fishing when i was a kid.  :)
