Well I decided to turn my closet into a place where I can organize all of my fishing tackle. So I pretty much took everything inside of it such as clothes, shoes, fishing tackle, binders, etc. and sort of threw it all over my room. Now I lack a creative mind. I think I might need some help/ideas, like they say pictures are worth a thousand words  

I did just the opposite.  I dedicated a closet for the wife and the rest of the house for fishing gear.

I have a closet upstairs for the "Other than Bass" fishing stuff. And my garage is dedicated to bass fishing now.  

I use cheep plastic shelving and a vertical rod rack.

Not a closet, but half of my bedroom  ;D

I have a rod rack, a bin of soft plastics, 2 tackle bags, reels in ziplocks, and 2 lure boxes.

My parents think its great  

2 tackle boxes, a good sized box, a laundry basket, a dozen fishing rods all im my living room beside my tv   the wife just loves it.

I got a room full of rods, tackle, tree stands and camoflage.

I have a fishing room for all my fishing gear and a lot of my baitmaking stuff.

We have a garage, boat, truck, den, bedroom, and family room full of fishing "stuff". (I live with the baitmonkey.)

Home Depot has a plethora of shelving and storage options.  Home Depot is your friend.  Plastic, stackable bins with drawers are particularly effective.  Pegboard is wonderful in the garage.

I actully built this during school. Its been sitting in my shed for awhile now and i ended up redoing my shed, (dedicated to fishing and tools). An i saw all my line sitting around and i thought duhh...

Its fits great, and is kinda handy i think. Doesnt take to long to build something like this, and you could specialize it to how you would like it!

My shop has my fishing stuff.  I have shelves, pegboard for hanging, and rod racks from the ceiling.  Post some pics later.

I have all of my fishing stuff in the garage, I built a 10' workbench and I added a vise for my baitmaking and I also cut little slits into the wood so I could stack all of my boxes sideways so I won't have all the weight on the boat if I take a few day off from fishing. I also cut a few places in the front of the bench where I could lay the poles when I want to work on them. I think it is kinda handy but right now that I am re-doing my boat the whole bench is covered with little parts.  

Garage.  Boat, rod racks, shelves and shelves of plastic boxes, pegboard it hang excess plastics, hoods, etc.  On one side a 20' workbench for painting and pouring with just enough room for a beer fridge.  

Left half of garage is for fishing. Right half for anything else.

The truck bed has spare, jack, and a fourway lug wrench

Spare hubs, bearings, etc. are under the trucks rear seat.

Pegboard in garage is full along with all shelving, chest with pullouts, and racks.

Extra keys and locks never leave the trucks console.

Made the wife a promise to keep the fishing out of the house. I fudge when she is on the road during the week.

No closet but half a garage. With the boat and shelves it is half full. The other half is car stuff.

I have a "MAN CAVE". It has all my fishing, boating, water skiing (that I can't use anymore), hunting/guns, tools. I'm trying to convince my wife that the computer should be there also, but that hasn't happened yet.

The two-car garage is full of my fishing and woodworking accoutrement.  

I am drawing up plans for a cabinet in which to seal up my rods and reels to keep the sawdust our of the reels.

When I was looking for apartments, the one thing that was on the top of my priority list was 2 closets in the master bedroom.  So now I'm able to dedicate one closet as the fishing closet that holds all of the goods.

I also have a "man cave" with all my stuff in it.  

The cave has a drop ceiling in it.  One of the tiles has been moved in order to accomodate taller big bait rods.  

"Man Cave" I've got one two. Two car garage that is pretty much full of fishing stuff. Built a room inside the man cave for my baitmaking and tackle storage. It's heated too!!!

I thinks that's more than a closet, I think !

My posting name tells the story. I'm a bass fisherman  :)and bass player, 8-) so the small bedroom in my house is my "man cave" containing all my music equipment on one side of the room and fishing equipment on the other.       Happy fishing. ;D

You buy a house with a garage! That is your hangout and clubhouse. Keep all your stuff and threaten the kids to stay out. Pretty cool to share  with friends tho. ;D

Just a thought but, would you have room to install shelving up high. What I am thinking is that you can put shelves from a certain height and then up to the top, but will still allow you some floor space and room to store things on the floor, like tackleboxes....or bins of plastics .

I'm sure that we all had a time when a closet full of fishing stuff was big time stuff. It used to be easy to decide what to take as I could carry all of it in one hand, including the rod. Relish your position because someday you will have to decide what to take and leave the one thing you know would've worked at home.

I have a detached two+ car garage that is unheated, houses tools, pool table, workbench, and occasionally cars.  I didn't want to leave all my fishing gear out in the cold all winter, so fortunately my wife asked me to build shelving and a craft table in the basement.  Little did she know that "craft" table would permanently house all my reels/lures/etc.!
