hey, im new to this forum and was wanting some help for tomorows pond fishing. This pond is about 2 acres and 8 feet deep at the deepest part and stacked full of bass. It has been about 65-70 degrees the last 5 days and is supposed to rain tomorow for the fisrt time in five days. We have a pond boat and are planning to use it. I have any bait you would like to use on a pond and just wanted some suggestions on what you guys would use this time of year.

Sounds like a lay-up: GYCB Senko, Fat Ika, Kreature or Kut-Tail.

cool thanks, what about any hard baits, jerk baits, slow swimming a shallow crank. What about crawdad imitations or swim baits?

The thing with question like this is you will get much better results if you ask the fish.

We can give you recommendations, but only this fish will let you know what will work.

It is a matter of figuring out what mood the fish are in, how big the strike zone is, and eventually what lure(s) they want more than any other(s).

BASS Fisherman is right.  The fish will let you know.

If I was in this situation I would use a spinner or buzz-bait to scan the area.  If you have no luck locating them I would go senko style.  Another good tactic would be slow jerking a suspending rapala type minnow.

Half the fun of catching them is dialing in on what they are hitting.

First time I hit a pond. I pack some fat Ikas or some 5 or 6 inch senkos, and some 4/0 ewg hooks with a medium heavy casting rod and just find out what the pond has in it for bass.

thanks for all the info, it definently helped. Some one above said to use a buzzbait to scan for the fish. I hammered with buzzbaits on this pond during the summer, and thought it was to early for buzz baits. Is it to early for topwater?

It may be too early in some areas.  It's all different.  But if the bass feel the spawning season coming they will be more aggressive and hit the buzz-baits.  These are your larger fish as they are starting to "pack on the pounds".  Give it a try.  At the least you are covering more area, hence "search bait".

gotcha, I will definently give it a try early because there are some toads in this pond, then I am gunna try some reaction baits because it is supposed to be windy and rainy, then I will go with the good ole senko, then some drop shottin if neccessary.

Sweet.  Top water toad baits are awesome.  Better than metal buzzers in veggie.  Let us know how it goes.  Stocked ponds are the testing grounds for many great baits.

man, I just tied on my buzzbait, I might of confused you by saying toads, but I meant huge bass, but none the less, I love throwing the frogs and they also work great on this pond and for some reason I thought the buzz would work early over the toads, but I might have to switch it up cause I like the more explosive strike on the frogs, just curious as to what type of frog you throw, I throw mostly rage frogs.

Just for referrence, frogs are the hollow body lures such as the Spro bronzeye frog.  Toads are the soft plastics such as the Rage tail.

I like a local baits shops plastics.  It's longer than a typical top-water floating frog but has the same effect.

those are some pretty cool toads too.

k with the above being said I like throwing toads over frogs because of the faster pace that you fish them, though I did buy a few frogs with kicker legs that I have to try out because the rage toads get pretty expensive.
