Ok, heres the low down:

I will be going to Nolin Lake this saturday. Those who dont know where it is, its basically in central Kentucky.

We have had a stretch now for a couple days in the 50s and 60s.

It will be almost 70 tomorrow and it is supposed to be in the mid 70s Saturday.

Nolin is usually stained to clear if I am thinking right.

Just wonderin at this time of year with temps being what they are this weekend in this area, what any of you guys might think to do?

Its a decent size lake, not a monster by any means but good size, lots of good cover and structure.

The levels are about 3 feet over its winter pool so I would think a lot of the cover and structure thats usually submerged will be showing.

Its not a super grassy lake.

I dont know everything there is to know about the lake but I am tryin to give as much pertinant info as I can.

Any help would be mucho appreciado.

oh yea, and he just got one of the hummingbirds with sideimaging, so we will be probably messing with it a lot trying to learn as much as we can about it and with it......im pretty psyched about that.

oh yea, almost forgot, its supposed to be in the mid seventies BUT it is supposed to be cloudy to the best of my knowledge with some wind maybe.

Spinnerbaits, spinnerbaits, spinnerbaits. also, Topwater, topwater, topwater.

There are many websites that can help you learn about local lakes. Google search the lake and see what you can find!  ;D ;D

Oh yea, I figured on definately gettin some use outta my blk/slvr buzz baits if its cloudy, hell I may even bust out the sammy or the ole spook.

I always hear to throw spinnerbaits when its windy, figured I would give that a go on some windblown points and whatnot.

I just so wanna do some med/deep crankin with my new rod/reel.

Just got a 08 Clunn model at BPS and put it on a 7 1/2 foot BPS crankin stick med act/ex fast.

I wanna use it, I wanna use it.....lol.

Wanting to use the Crankin Stick???  Throw your buzz on it, I use mine for buzz baiting a lot.  I"m going fishing this weekend too, and still coming up with a game plan myself,  good luck.

Im gona tell ya what ya alredy know... Spinnerbaits! Maybe some frogs ... im dieing to try the new spro fogs i got and if it gets warm enough ..... So id recomend Frog and Spinner.

Still depends on water tempature. 45-55 it would be hard to get a jerkbait and a jig out of my hand. Traps and spinnerbaits would be my second choices. Just let the fish tell you what they want.My bet is that they will still be tight to structure.

Mebbe...but realize strongly windblown areas may have cold water rolled up on 'em. Look for heat or stability. A lot of bass should be shoreline oriented now, but exactly where they are will depend on forage and temperature.

Check the shallows but be ready to drop back to the staging areas, which may be cool enough you may be back to jerkbaits, 'traps and jigs.

Don't be fooled by warm air temps. It's the direct sun that heats, and the long cold nights that takes it away.

As Raul put it in another similar post, You may end up fishing like its early pre-spawn, but be dressed for summer.

Where in central Kentucky is this lake...The weather here in richmond is looking good but suspected rain saturday

I would be on lake points with a jerkbait or spinnerbait.

If you can find a protected cove that is getting a good bit of sun, I would be in there with the flipping shtick.  Off color water warms faster, so that would help too.

Cant go wrong with fishing the rip rap either.

And for the feller who asked where Nolin is in central Ky.....its south of etown in between Munfordsville and Leitchfield.

Dont listen to those yahoos. Crankbaits trust another KY boy. Heres my list of crankbaits I use in March in Kentucky.

Spinnerbaits work too but I rarely see a day in early march a crankbait wouldnt catch more in KY.

But throw topwaters and frogs if you want I will be catching them on crankbaits in KY tommorow.

I've come up with my game plan for tomorrow.  The lake I fish has a good gravel/rip/rap bank on the sunny north side.  Will be heading there tomorrow with the hopes that some crawfish will be emerging and trying the jigs, if that doesn't work I'll pull off to the shelf and try jerkbaits, raptraps, and spinnerbaits.  In short I'm starting shallow and working it deeper til I find the fish.

It's not too cold to be thinking about buzzbaits.  Bass will hit a buzzbait in 50 degree water.  Bass will hit a buzzbait in 40 degree water.

Yea, I was gonna say something about that earlier too.....buzzbaits are almost my goto bait on pretty much any lake I have been on in Ky.

I have seen my friend Chris catchin bass on a buzz in 43 degree water, partly cloudy, sun peeking in and out.

I will most times hit that buzz right out of the starting gate, then move on to other faster motion baits till its solidified in my mind that they dont want motion, then I will move off to slower stuff, jigs and plastics ad the like, or slowrolling a spinnerbait over wood and killing it as soon as it comes over top good branches. Caught a ton like that.

And yes, its close to mammoth cave, kinda, north of the mammoth cave state park.
