Hi, I'm a newb, and first time poster. I love this site have been visiting for almost 2 years now. Such a wealth of info available.

Heading out on to the water for the first time friday. I have been watching fishing shows and reading mags all winter, it's time to hit the water.

Weather: sunny & 63, water temp around 50.(Mogadore reservoir) Any ideas how to approach getting my lunkers?

Thanks.

jig and pig and shakey head. a few of my friends have fished portage with good luck on that

Jerkbait would be my first choice.

8-)

I'll go ahead and say whats on my mind but how clear or stained is the water?

1. jerkbait

2. jig

3. crankbait

4. rat-l-trap

5. shakyhead worm

Some the guys in your area may have better advice.

With your weather like that I would throw Jerkbaits, slow roll spinnerbaits and If your not getting any bites then I would switch over to a jig.

I live a few miles from Mogadore , it sure wasn't 63 degrees today where I  live. It was cloudy and cool today.

I'm about 120 miles North of you, and so far this Spring my best producers have been crankbaits. I was getting a few on spinnerbaits, but that bite stopped. I can't catch a cold on any plastics. Of the crankbaits, the best has been Rapala Shad Raps, and some custom baits made by one of our members. Yesterday I started picking up a few on soft swimbaits.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Falcon, Looks like I'll leave the plastics at home.

I would stop at a couple of tackle shops in the area and try and get some info out of them as well!  ;D
