Any of you pay attention to astro tables when you go fishing?  Is the fishing really that much better during these periods?

NO and NO.

YES totally work. I catch fish outside of the tables - but the fish turn on almost to the minute. I am a dork and I printed out the tables for each month. I usually fish 2 to 4 days a week and I record my catches and lures used etc. right on the printed out table - or I tear it out of FLW magazine. 90% of my hot streaks are during those 2 prime hours each day. I plan my trips around them - but I will fish ANYTIME because I love fishing.

This study refutes solunar tables affects, with the exception of some increased activity during spring and summer.

We know from observing our environment that animal activity is affected by a daily rhythm, however scientific proof is another matter.

No, I use to check them and found myself planning strategies around them. Fishing spots at the wrong times so I quit even looking at them. Have not checked one in several years.

It could be maybe because I did it for a year and decided it wasn't working for me. Does that help you out ?

I vote NO and No also.  Some of my best catches were outside the tables.  Printed tables - Astro, Solunar or whatever are probably less accurate than you local weatherman - and that's not usually saying much in the Mid-West states.  None of these tables (can) take weather conditions into account which is often very important.  Secondly would be specific lake conditions that the tables "know" nothing about.

I don't understand fisherman who cancel a trip because a table or chart says it's only going to be a "POOR FISHING" day.  My wife put one table on the fridge as a joke this Spring.  One "poor day" this year, we caught 79 bass in just over 3 hours! We had a good laugh over that one . . .

I would say "no" and "it depends".

However, I do see how they can be an easy reference to anglers just starting out. As they do show patterns that not only show the "astro" projectioin but also relate to high time feeding patterns. I found it a usful reference when I had no idea at all when I should be fishing.
