looking to get one, any suggestions. I am looking for the lowest cost for the best system. Or would i be better off making my own, and if so does anyone have directions on making on?

Ardent culling balls are the best

Check out ACCU CULL on Tackle warehouse. You don't have to write down anything anymore, very easy to use. I just used mine this past Saturday and LOVE IT... Weather doesn't affect it. It's not cheap ($40.00) but worth it to anyone who tournament fishes...

My buddy used the Ardent system last weekend and it worked great for him to cull by oz without reweighing all the fish.  The only problem is the clips sometimes rip the bass' mouth as they splash around every time you open the well.  The other types of clips made, fall off often so that's not an option to use.

Where is the best place to poke a hole in the bass mouth without it ripping, keeping in mind these clips are hard to push through?

I use the Ardent system and it works fine.  I have poked a hole in the thin membrane right behind the lower lip.  Also have inserted the clip behind the gill plate and out the mouth.  No hole and the clips are big enough that they swing free. No damaged gills.

I was VERY hot on the Ardent system, until I started to hear about issues with the balls blocking the return drain in the well, causing overflow.  So many reports, that I wonder if it just isn't compatible with certain livewell systems.  I did find this, and it looks just as good as the Ardent syatem.  No more smudged culling cards in the rain, LOL.

That is the one I bought John. All you carry to a tournament is a set of cull tags and this board. How much easier is that....

Same hole you made when weighing the fish.  For dinks, through the gill plate works fine.
