Featured Replies

I want to get a replica of this fish. Where would be the best place to get it done at?

Check around with your local taxidermists.  Each guy does his fish a little different.  Definitely ask if he recreates the fish as it is in your picture or if he has a standard way of painting each fish.

Most importantly though,  see actual mounts he/she has done and make your final decision based on that.  Not on price.

Check with Mattlures and Fish Chris for suggestions.

They are both "in touch" and have done their homework.

Send each a PM and I'm sure they will be glad to help.

I changed the name of the thread because this isn't "Virginia" specific.  The majority of folks who have the good reps are in other states like cali, Tx, etc  I would follow RW's advice on this one and remember, you get what you pay for.

Great fish btw, congrats!!!

Yes, please don't skimp on price with that one.... it may be several yrs before you are lucky enough to catch one that big on public water.  Bass pro used to advertise for replica fish.  I'm sure they can hook u up with a good taxid. who can be of service.

I would go for Lake Fork Taxidermy, in Texas....

I live in Georgia, and last year when I caught my PB (9-12oz), I asked many people, looked at lots of Taxidermists, and finally chose Lake Fork.

They were GREAT to work with, and the final product looks exactly like my fish - it's amazing. Overall quality is excellent, and it really, really looks like the original fish. Extremely pleased......

so what all do you have to have to get a mount? length, weight and picture i assume? what about girth or anything else? id like to put the fish back when i catch one,but dont wanna do that and not have enough info to get it mounted,. then id be really ticked...lol

Typically, you need Weight, Length and Girth, and a couple of photos - that's it.....
