Fish Structure?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if any of yall ever put any structure for the bass and if so what kind? In the fall the lakes around here get fairly low so it would be easy for me to put out some structure of some sort that may help me during the spring or summer months! I was thinking about something similar to the honey hole structure I found on the internet but making it myself! Any Suggestions?

I have put out Christmas trees in the past, but not for years...they seemed to work pretty well and you can usually get a bunch of them for free in January ;)

Brush, Christmas trees and logs (small portions of fallen trees).  :)

You can place a more permanent cover other than Xmas trees or brush, those will eventually rot, but PVC piping or cinder blocks are forever.  ;)

You'd be adding cover, not structure, to attract bass.  Check your state laws, as its not legal in some states.

Yep, I have myself a little milk run of brush I have deposited in the lake.

If you decide to do it, do it at night or mid week. Otherwise it's known to more than a few.

And before I get jumped on there is no law against it here.

well I know for a fact it is against the law here in these lakes to put anything that is plastic in them! But I think I could use rebar or x-mas trees for sure!

Wouldn't rebar be a little rough on your line? I guess it would depend on how you placed it.

Christmas trees don't hold good bass as well as do more solid covers like stumps and rock piles. Rock piles have been some of the best man made cover I have fished. Look for the darkest colored ones you can find, about the size of your head(as long as you don't live in Texas! LOL) Throw out a marker and drop all of them in the same spot a few feet away from the marker so it will make a pile.
