Shoreline techniques to use...

Featured Replies

What are the best shoreline techniques to use?  Drop shot?  Jigging? Deadsticking?  Hard lure retrieve?  live bait?  spinnerbait? Texas Rig?  Carolina Rig?  Wacky style?  What do you recommend?

Use any technique that seems to fit the conditions. In my case, it's mostly topwaters, soft plastics, shallow crankbaits and spinnerbait/Chatterbait-type lures.

I pond fish alot here in south florida. I walk the bank in canals and ponds here and you have to plan for the water that your fishing. If your in a golf course or community pond you can find less weeds so I have had better success with crank baits and jigs .  Some ponds are very weedy so I use frogs and skinny dippers and rage tail shads and toads.

In most of the canals  What I recommend is a t rig set up. Small light weightsat most  1/4 ounce covers most for me. I use strike king coffee tubes, Sweet beavers and flirts.

In the Rocky ponds I use a KVD 7 foot 10  cranking rod  paired with the new energy power reel. I can reach place most cant with this rod. I use a series 4s most of the time or a series 5 crank bait. It allows me to cover a lot of water and catch some good fish.
