Pond Choked With Lillypads

Featured Replies

What is the best method for fishing this kind of pond? the pond is small i would say no more then 3-4 acres i threw a frog for a bit with no luck and a spinnerbait but just as i thought the spinnerbait just wound up pulling up a bunch of garbage. Any help?

if it's that heavy, best bet is to flip or pitch.  long casts will be a nighmare, unless you can rig something to be very weedless, in which case depending how thick it is you'll still get caught on the pads.

Me like the Fat Ika!

Another couple of suggestions: Rage Tail Shad

and 10" Anaconda fished weightless on top of

the pads.

Bass love the shade that lily pads cast, but even a good thing can reach the point of vanishing returns.

In ponds where lily pads literally "choke" the surface, it becomes important

to concentrate along the pad edges, and especially in the pockets and holes in the pads.

If surface lures aren't producing action, I'd head straight to the bottom of the stalks

with your favorite bottom lure.

u can either use rage shad because it is top water and weedless

or use space monkey pegged with 1 oz tungsten and flip it both do work good

All of these suggestion's are good but I didn't see anything about braid.! We have lot's of lake's like that here in FL and Braid is almost a must..

50 lb braid and a 7'6" flipping stick are my weapons of choice on a body of water like this - both for froggin and flipping
