Is There Anything as Fun As a Good Day Bass Fishing?

Featured Replies

Just trying to get to know a little about everyone on BR while I sit here with the worst cabin fever I've ever had.

I was just wondering what you guys like to do almost as much, as much, or even more, than have a good day bass fishing?

If the answer is nothing, I want to know that too.

For me, there's 2.5 things that rival a good day bass fishing.

1. Mogul Skiing on top of fresh powder on a beautiful mountain top.

2. Going far in a big poker tournament.

2.5   The two times a summer I break 80 on the golf course.

How about you guys?

1. Strange

2. Shooting an Elk

3. Big fish in the back country

Mr. Ackwards, to help with your cabin fever, I will respond.

I've been doing this for decades now, I'm getting wore out, my boats's wore out, fishing has ceased to become fun or a hobby for some years now. It's more like a need or job. When the lakes are not frozen , I fish almost every day of the week, all year long except weekends. Many days I get up & want to stay home, but I actually have to force myself to fish. Many days I get out on the water and decide I really don't want to be out there. That said, I've found there are a few other things to replace the fun I used to have when fishing.

I walk about 50 steps out my back door & I'm in state game lands, I can walk a mile in three directions without hittin a road. My own personal 2500 acre hunting ground 24/7. I've started to get more into varmint hunting, there's always something to kill, groundhogs, coyotes, crows & other misfits of the animal world. I'm getting pretty good at turning Groundhogs into a can of soup at some pretty long ranges. It's becoming one of my new sources of fun.

If it's too windy to fish or hunt, I've got a very minty Z06 vette in the garage, I put in a Beach Boys CD & go hit the twistys for a while, and find a new place to eat lunch. I've come to find that's it's as enjoyable as fishing. There's something about hitting Nascar speeds and taking hairpin turns at almost a G that brings a smile to my face.

there you have it, a couple things I enjoy as much as fishing.

1.  I can't say on a "family site" ;)

2.  Killing big whitetail bucks with a bow and arrow.   Such a rush to arrow a big 10 point when he's only 10 yards away especially when you work all year long to do it.

I would have to say that I enjoy playing hockey almost as much.

To answer truthfully...........NO... I love fishing. To me notIf i had to give a few after Bass Fishing

2- Fishing other species ( walleye, musky, sturgeon)

3-Duck hunting

Uh....I can't remember! It's been so long since I've been bass fishing I've forgotten what it's like!  :D

Just about any big game hunting is more fun then bass fishing. The greater the ocomplshment, the more fun I have. Now my biggest bass do rank up there.

1. Cant say on a family site.

2. Poking holes in paper targets at 10-20 yards.

3. Poker.

These are what I enjoy doing when not fishing.

Night in bed

Night on the water

Sometimes the two are combined.

1.  Vacation with the kids & family (usually Disney World)

2. Daytrips when the kids don't whine (it hasn't happened yet, but I'm hopeful :) )

3. Time alone with the Mrs. - Only 14 years to go until the youngest graduates :)

1 getting to see my grandkids, which i don't get to do that often

2 spending time with my wife and 2 dogs which we fish when we can.

3 getting to spend time with my parents and family.

4 fishing is in the tops too, where i live i don't get to see 1&3 unless i go visit them i don't have a job so i fish a lot.

Well I like bass fishing quite a bit but here are few things almost as good as a good day bass fishing:

- a bad day bass fishing

- crappie fishing

- catfishing

- camping

- hiking

- wood working

- gardening

1. I have a 2004 GTO with a twin turbo set up putting down 642 horsepower to the rear wheels that i love to hit the track with. It became a very expensive habit so i usually only make a few passes. I like to cruise it a lot.

2. I bought a M&P 15-22 rifle this year and got into squirrel hunting.

3. i love to shoot clays, paper targets, or anything that blows up. Something about ripping off a whole magazine of a 9mm that just gets me excited.

hmmm....

quality time with my 19 month old.

quality time with the misses.

playing a packed bar full of happy drunks at 1.30 in the morning and ripping their heads off with "stranglehold".

saltwater fishing.
