Just one more thing....

While you are all engaged in line winding and rod selecting and lure choosing and are generally chomping at the bit to get out there and  fish for ten hours a day, you may have forgotten the most important tool in your arsenal...you. How many of you have done any sort of exercising and strengthening of your back, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and arms? And, you are going on a three day all stops pulled out trip next week where you will fish 12 hours a day? Are you nuts? You are likely to blow a shoulder and ruin your fishing for months! Take the time right now to start working on your cannon or it won't fire when you want it to! I have a series of exercises I do to keep the machine well oiled, and I will share them with anyone, but I am not a fitness specialist. I am sure there are some folks here who have far more knowledge than I about this subject and for all our sakes, please give us some hints as to how to prepare our bodies for the coming onslaught.

so strange, my first balls to the wall fishing trip this year (last sat and sun) gave me the worse crick in my neck i've ever had, in fact its still kickin. i've already made the decision to stretch before my next outting which is tomorrow. just gotta limber up a bit beforehand

i agree with brushhoggin about stretching, its a good idea before any physical activities. no matter what kind of shape youre in stretching beforehand will help prevent injuries or really sore/tight muscles.

I find that if I stretch when I get out of bed, I feel a lot more energized than when I don't . i also stretch before fishing. Good topic, i bet not many people think about it.

I fish streams all winter for fish much bigger then bass.

Yoga. Also I just saw some guy on WFN that has a "fit for fishing" show, or maybe it is a dvd he is trying to sell.

.

I'm fishing, not playing baseball.  Took me one day on the water to get back into shape.

Which one?  Round?

I kept my elbow in shape all winter.

And pulled at least 80 lbs of gear across ice with at times 1 foot of snow on top during the winter. Why am I still fat?
