bass pond

Featured Replies

going to a bass pond this upcoming weekend, water is probably in the 40s maybe low 50s. It's been between 35-60 degrees latly, with 50-60s expected during the week. What would you be throwing?

I would be fishing slow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Downsize the lure/line and rod. Thats the best i can give you for those conditions.

Lipless crankbait, suspending jerkbait, or weighted worm fished slow.

For me when the weather and water temps are like that I can only get a reaction strike. I'd try crankbaits, with a slow retrieve and lots of quick jerks and pulls, followed by short pauses. I'd also try jigs, ripping them a couple feet off the bottom and then letting em sit for a while. Jerkbaits would probably be good too. I'd try real slow too, but sometimes you really need to force those fish too strike.

Any time Im fishing a pond, I make sure Ive got a few pumpkin seed lizards, those beaver tail looking things, and some craw fish looking plastics. I fish them either weightless, or T-rigged w/a very small weight . If the pond will have shallow banks or some trees in >4' id take a couple of Rapala minnows. Have fun... I love a captive audience.lol :D

Jig and a pig, T-rigged senko, or a jig and a tube fished, as everyone else has recommended: SLOW. Fish are still lethargic in those water temps.
