Lucky Craft

Featured Replies

Are Lucky Craft lures worth the cost? I've been doing quite a bit of online shopping lately and I'm trying to talk myself into ordering some. I'm just having a hard time spending $15+ on a crankbait when I could buy a Bandit, Norman, or Strike King for $5-$7.

I love them, they have great color selections, great hooks and are made of really good material. Only downside is that it is terrible when you lose them, because they cost 15+ dollars. Try getting one and see how you like them, I am sure you won't be disappointed

I personally dont like crank baits to much. But there is a time and place where a crank is a good, productive way to go. I disagree with spending $15+ on a single crank bait. There is many other cranks out there that are cheap ($10 or less), and just as productive if not even better. I favour a Heddon Big-O, for shallow water fishing. I have caught many many smallies and largies on it, and its a cheap bait to.

But all in all its personal preference, and whether or not your willing to spend $15+.

Good Luck. :)

some days, they eat a clown rogue...some days, a nishiki pointer.

some days, they eat a dt6...some days, a flat mini dr...and so it goes.

bottom line...if it works, it's worth it.

if it don't, it ain't.

I use Lucky Crafts often and like them a lot. My favorites are the Gunish and Sammy topwaters, RC 1.5 and Flat Mini SR cranks, and the Pointer series.

IMHO, Yes, they are worth it. Just be sure you have a plug knocker or another lure retriever because they are not cheap.

I think some of their baits are high performers and are worth the $15, I also think some of their products are average. I would reccomend the RC 0.5 & 1.5 cranks, Pointer, Staysee & Flash minnow jerkbaits, Sammy & Gunfish topwater baits.

Without question.  If you asked me what my favorite brand of crank is, I might say Zoom WEC....I love Ed's baits.  However, I throw Lucky Crafts the most.  Moonsault cb100's, the entire flat mini series, BDS series, and RC series.  They just flat out catch fish, and I have a ton of confidence in them.

Oh, and don't spend $15 a bait.  I have never paid more than $10, and usually a couple of dollars less for my entire arsenal of LC's.

 Where?

I just started using them They are impressive...well made, SUPER sharp hooks, just real quality products. They are expensive though. What I suggest is do what I did. Buy one that lends itself to a technque you have confidence in. (Shallow crank, lipless crank, jerkbait, etc.) Check the quality for yourself and see what you think. Also ask for BPS gift cards at X-Mas/ B-days and use those for the "expensive" stuff.  :)

Good luck!

You just have to keep an eye out.  I bought a bunch from Backwaters (now 'tackle experts'), I bought a bunch from Cabelas on clearance, and took advantage of Dick's putting L/C's on sale and combining a coupon.  I've also bought a bunch off of ebay.  There were quite a few being auctioned off the past month for .01 cents and $6.99 shipping.  I bought 4 G-Splashes, and 4 LV-O's.  I try and tell anglers all the time....you can fish with the best baits for cheap if you just keep an eye out.  If you don't look...you won't find bargains.

Lures are tools - you choose one to fit the job at hand. If you want to use a gold-plated Snap On wrench to turn that nut, thats ok, but i'll use a Craftsman and get the same results...

X2 Natural....

The Dick's near me didn't stock them. I had coupns up the ying-yang, Score Card bucks, but no L.C.s

I agree, you can find top shelf baits, but you have to look. I just got 6 different L.C.s on E-Bay for $10.00 average per bait from a US seller. There are some sellers from Japan, and the price is good, but you wait forever for them to get here. Shop CLEARANCE!!! This time of year here in the NE area, Dick's, Sports Authority etc. are getting rid of last years left overs. I got friendly with the sales folks and they let me know when the stuffs going on clearance. Lots of folks don't have time for this kind of shopping, but it saves hundreds over a season, and gives bums (lol) like us a chance to use upscale baits!!! ;D

I also questioned weather LCs were worth the extra money.  That question was quickly answered on my first outing.  They are worth it.  But with that said sometimes the fish will eat them up and sometimes they wont touch them but will eat up the brand X, Y and Z lures.  Good idea to have a variety that is for sure.

Yeah ebay is a great place to find LC lures cheap.  So is Dicks when they have their coupons.

Later, :)

Those are Lucky craft lures not Lucky Craft. Well at least thats all I see.

Beware those .01 baits from hootcrazed on ebay are absoluely cheap knock offs. Compare the bearings to a packaged g-splash. The packaged lure bb is pegged not to slide. Knock off bb is also duller and smaller. Molding injection point is different. Detail not as pronounced. (don't shoot the messanger, I bought a bunch and shot myself in the foot ) >:)

The Pointer is worth the money, that's for sure. Just invest in two types of lure retriever: A hounddog type that has a heavy head that you clip to your line, and unwind till you hit the lure, and also the telescoping, pole type retriever that will work in water under 18' deep.

The only lucky craft lure I would avoid is the live pointer. The rest that I have used though, especially the pointer, are great. The pointer has an action in between that of an X - Rap and a Husky Jerk.

X2 on hootcrazed on E-Bay....

I bought one LV (ghost minnow) .......jury is still out.

I also got a couple of "proto-type" lures for a few dollars. JUNK!!

ALWAYS check the feedback before you bid. The folks I buy my LCs from have 100%.

I think the Pointers are worth it for sure, they are in a class by themselves. But as for the rest I do just as well with Rapala, Bomber, Bandit and Rebel lures.

A Pointer 100 is nothing like a X-Rap XR-10.  Same goes for Husky Jerks, Flash Minnows, Rogues, Suspending Thundersticks, Long As, Visions, Slender Pointers, etc.  You will find after fishing each of them, and observing them in the water that each responds differently.  No one retrieve works the same for all.

For instance, delicate inputs really make a Flash minnow come to life, whereas with a XR-10, delicate twitches and sweeps "tame" this baits erratic nature.

If you have a few options, and understand how to use them, you up your percentages.
