fishin a green pond

Featured Replies

Any ideas??? this pond has a lot of algae on the bottom as well..

Well that's pretty much what I fish around here at school. I mainly go with weightless trick worms and the like.

Low visibility waters i've had good success with something a little noisy. Try a crankbait, or spinnerbait.

Same type of water I fish in my area and a crankbait works well or a spinnerbait depending on the weeds. The BPS Egg cranksbaits work well if the weeds are high and it makes plenty of noise and has a nice wide wobble.

Good Luck

Your favorite plastic in a natural color (greens, browns, etc) should do well.

Noisy hardbaits in charteuse are another option.

I find that buzzbaits work really well in waters like this.

Also maybe a senko style bait in pumpkin or watermelon colors.

i fished a lake just like this and a jerkbait usually works for me.

Green pumpkin or watermelon/red flake trick worm fished weightless. That's what works around here in the green water.

I agree with Bilgerat.

One color I would add for dawn or dusk is junebug. I read it somewhere this year and I've been absolutely SMOKIN' em. Fish tend to match their surroundings,as a result, I have noticed that baitfish are a few shades darker in the morning or right at dusk.

Good Luck, hookset on 3

Quite a few of the irrigation ponds we frequent here in Ga. will develop the same color in middle summer, JuneBug trick worm is the killer in these conditions!

I fish a pond like that in my backyard almost everyday. I can almost guarantee that pond is holding some pretty nice bass. If the food competition is tough just about anything will work if you can keep it out of the weeds. I do have trouble getting them to hit shad imitating crank baits, minnow cranks seem to work better.

I would say you try some:

plastic craws (baby pacas) in  green or brown t-rigged and weightless just dead stick it and look for the line to take off.

If those dont work try it with a senko or trick worm. I have caught some 3 and 4 pounders on bright green and gold flake senkos.

But seriously try just about anything..I caught my PB in a pond like that on a purple buzz bait that I couldnt catch anything on.
