While I am sitting here watching the Carolina game I thought this would be a good thread. So which do you perfer a lure made by a big name company like Strike King or Bomber, or do you perfer a lure made by a small name company like Bass Snacks or ***?

Since I know that *** has the best prices in bass fishing act like the lures are free.

     

It all depends on the reputation of the specific company in question. My experience with big companies has been that of poor customer service and defects in lure quality due to mass production. I believe that smaller companies actually put the love of the sport into each and every one of their products. Not to mention the pricing is usually better from smaller companies as well. Just my 2 cents though!

I try to support the small company's when ever I can. If they have a good product, I forgo the big names.

The way the bait performs is the most important factor for me.

*** plastics have a wonderful movement that I think is superior to Zoom and Powerbait.

There is a place for the Zoom, Powerbait, Senko, Slider, Bandit, Lucky Craft, RICO, Zell Poppers, Rat-L-Traps, Strike King, etc. products that are the best to use under specific situations and conditions.

As usual, it is personal preference.

This is what makes bass fishing so challenging and fun.  You can throw your Zara Spooks while I throw a RICO and today I will out-fish you 10 to 1 and tomorrow, doing the same thing, you will out-fish me 10 to 1.

Go figure?      

Just depends on what I need.  For jigs and plastics it is very hard to beat some of the smaller companies out there that have a product just as good if not better then the big companies.

I whole heartedly agree.  

there ate only a few times i will actually pay for the "big names".

i have had great success with Cabela's crank baits.  so why pay for the Rapala?

i prefer Yamamoto's stuff because it is so soft and seems to have better action.  like his double tail hula grub. my number one soft plastic.

but i ordered from *** last week and can't wait to try theirs.  i have heard nothing but good stuff on here about them.  not to mention the price is right.  so, if their stuff is as good as or really close.  i will not pay for the yamamoto stuff.

I have no preference.  If it works for me, I use it.

I agree with Catt too but I prefer to work with smaller companies cause they are much more personable and helpful.

I don't care as long as it isn't Bass Pro.

I don't use any baits that have the name of the manufacturer on the bait.  Bass are becoming quite educated these days and have learned to avoid the words 'zoom', 'bomber', and 'lucky craft'

How many baitfish have you seen swimming around with brand names on them???  ;D
