You bet. I still have a Zebco 202 and a cheap 5 1/2' casting rod so I've already got the gear. I would like the option of having a better bait selection though... ::)

I possess certain rods and reels (which are decent but nowhere near top end) mostly because I detest struggling with junk and tangled line. Similarly, I bought a new pickup rather than a beater with a heater simply because I want something reliable that won't break down (and because a good used pickup is nearly as costly as a new one). On the other hand, I have a plethora of lures for two reasons-first, because I like being more versatile but also because it's just a lot of fun to fish and collect a lot of lures. So, for me, if I could keep the lures I have and be restricted to a Zebco combo, that would be...okay. Not great but okay. This isn't to say, of course, that a Zebco can do all the things a better/more appropriate rod and reel can do. It can't. But I could live with it. If I had to be confined in both areas, I'd probably still fish but not nearly so often.

Not a 202, but a 33 would be fine.

I like this kind of stuff. Back in the day, when we raced dirt bikes there was a "Vintage Class" dedicated to bikes 10yrs old or more. This allowed folks with a lower budget to enjoy the competition without feeling out-classed. There were a handful that could jump on a 20 yr old bike and give someone on a brand new one more than they could handle.

If you were, by some divine mandate, allowed to fish only with a Zebco 202 combo and the stuff that's usually part of one of those cheapy starter kits , would you still bother?

Yes i would..it would still be fishing and still be fun ;)

As a twist, wouldn't it be kind've funny to restrict a professional tournament to Snoopy or Barbie poles? Maybe as a charity event.

Okay, I know I'm strange but boredom does that to a person. :(

that would be like watching a professional golfer play putt-putt ;D

I take a lot of pleasure in all the stuff, but if that was all I had I'd make do.

Would I still fish? Yes

Would I still enjoy fishing? Yes

Would I rather fish a Uber light, sensitive setup? Yes.

And we should have a Bass Resource tournament with only Barbie poles, Cars poles etc  ;D Dont just limit it to the pros!

I'd do it as long as I could wear these as a PFD.
