I only fish for largemouth as there is only one dam in Johannesburg that has smallmouth but they are scares as well. But will post. Just remember that our fish over here are not as big as the pigs you get there. The currant South African record is sitting at 13.86LB and they not that common to find. My personal best is 9.03LB. And they not even that common.

Here is a pic of my personal best:

Johan and MakhuluBass

Welcome to the both of you. We are glad you like what you see here. Feel free to ask any question you have and don't forget to look at the fishing articles we have at the top of the page.

Wow, bass fishing in Africa....too cool.

And thats a PIG you have there...good job.

Things aren't THAT different here.  a 14lber is all but common.  And I'd say a 9lber is un-common as well.

Your doing great!

LMAO. Can you believe it? The problem is that we do have some nice bass fishing venues here. But unfortunately our government does not see the money potential in the sport and see the fish as alien specie. But we are trying our best to promote the sport. Let me put it to you like this. We don't get that much Bass fishing on our TV channels.

Thanks. That was a day i would never forget

Welcome guys!

johan,I'd call that a pig!

Nicely done

Hey nice fish Johan.

I live at the Vaal River and fish it almost every week end as it is so close by.  As I am sure you know a good size fish at the Vaal is about 1,5kg (3,3 lbs) as the LM are mainly Northern Strain although I have heard Florida strain fingerlings were introduced last year.

Nice lunker - from one of the KZN dams??

Thanks to the board for a warm welcome. :)

Then you the man to speak to about places on the vaal lmao. I am currently fishing the B.E.T.T Tournament and the Vaal River is one of the places we fishing twice. So would you mind me joining you some day for an outing on the vaal?

Thanks. Hmmm No that fish came out from just down the road from you guys. Bass lake.

Hi there!

Im from Croatia. There's a lot of bassfishermans here and the bass fishing is gettin' more and more popular. Because of temperature diferences bass can't grow so big as yours. Croatian record is nearly 3 kg. My pers.best is 2,2 kg.

Sorry for bad english...it was learned from Cartoon Network

See and people say Cartoon Network is a waste of time lmoa.

3KG. Dam. if our record was 3 kg's it would be broken every weekend by some body. Make No mistake. They are hard to find. But every week you hear of some body getting a 3kg+ fish

yeah, six years of nuttin' but CN...

problem is that bass in croatia isn't protected during breeding period. bass was imported from hungary in our lakes and croatian ministry of agriculture has no protection measures for him. sad but true...and i'm sure you know what happens when you remove bass from his nest. we have here ''bass comunity'' that realy kicks but they are still minority. things are starting to get better because we have C&R on few lakes, fish is protected and there you can realy enjoy bass fishing.
