Featured Replies

Im a largemouth fisherman and have my baitcasters rigged with 50 and 65lb powerpro, and 2 spinner reels setup with 6lb flouro and 1 spinning reel with 8lb mono/gama, and one ultralight with 4lb test. I was wondering if this was a good set to take with me on this trip? Ill be doing some rainbow trout fishing, cuttthroat trout fishing, musky fishing and bass fishing mainly. Which setup would i use for these types of fish..Braid for Musky/bass. etc..........6another sitelouro for.....

Also am i gona need the braided line or should i string up something smaller on it for the smallmouth.

As you can see i have never gone smallmouth fishing and dont know the diff between the two. Thanks.

Smallmouth can be line sensitive. I recommend the 6 lb fluorocarbon on spinning tackle.

Normally on regular lakes I use 8 lb test on spinning gear but when we fish Detroit River, Lake Erie and St Clair River I use 20 or 40 lb Super Braid since we are usually drifting bumping bottom. I like the braid more when drifting because there is so many rocks and other things to get hung up on down there.

heres what I'd take

1 medium light or medium spinning with 6 or 8 pline cxx

1 medium heavy bait caster with 14 or 17 pline cxx

1 musky rod with 65 braid

That would do everything I'd need.
