rip rap is coverd in crayfish

Featured Replies

the place i fish i was there right as the sun was going down and the 3 time Ive been to this spot Ive caught 5 nice 2-4# small mouth, but wen i was there i noticed there were crayfish covering the rocks,i could see about a dozen at a time but Ive tried every crayfish imitator i got and get no response from the fish, but i can put on just about and color rather shallow crank and they kill it,I'm gonna stick with that but i was just wondering why they wont touch the crayfish

Too many real crawdads, your moving lures offer

something different.

My suggestion would be a Swarming Hornet with

a LFT Live Magic Shad trailer.

When I lived near the Mohawk River-Barge Canal in Upstate NY, the rip-rap lining the banks where favorite spots. I threw a deep diving crankbait and really banged it off the rocks with little pauses thrown in. I found wobble and rattle more of a factor than color in what they wanted on a particular day.

Delaware where abouts on the Muddy Mo did you fish? Ill be hitting it this weekend its tournament time goin for the green fish 6-7 pool.

Basspro I have has alot of luck with a Rapala JSR7 in the Craw patterns and Mag Warts. Are you fishing from shore or boat, Lake or river?

RoadWarrior pretty much nailed it. Sometimes if there are too many of a certain item in a pack, throw a completely different style of bait. Try a baitfish imitator or senko in that area and see what happens. Make your offering stick out from the rest and they will smash it.

well i just got got back from that spot i was talking about i made a mag shift crayfish trap to see if i could catch some but i went to dick and got some new cranks ,i caught 2 little SM,and caught 2 BIG perch all on a baby bass crank,I'm going back first thing in the morn hoping to get a 5#

Question....

Did you try a jig matching the color of the craws with a large trailer or a 4" tube?? The larger trailer may be just enough to get them biting, and the tube moves more than a jig but less than a crank.

I'd be interested in how you make out and if you have tried these methods. :)

I mainly fished out of the St Johnsville marina, but have fished quite a bit all the way down through Amsterdam.
