I recently purchased some Strike King KVD Burner Spinner baits and SK Sexy Spoons. I picked up a White/Chart Spinner with White/Chart colored blades. I tossed it out a few times and within about 20 minutes the paint on the blades started to peel off and chip away. I have the same issues with the Sexy Spoons. I wasn't banging it off cover or structure, so I was pretty upset.

I've fished a lot of Strike King products and this is the first time that I've had any bad experiences and was wondering if anyone else had a similar experiences or if its a isolated case.

Yea, I had the same thing happen with the Sexy Spoons.  I bought a half dozen of them and 4 out of 6 are now 100% silver, the other two are still in the pack.  

SK has decent customer service and will likely replace them for you, but the same thing will happen again unless they've changed the paint.  It's tough to get paint to adhere to them.  I suppose you could try using some sort of clear coat on top of them, though I've never tried.  I'd be inclined to try Envirotex but would likely alter their action.

That said, I've used them and they work with or without the paint.

I was thinking of using a clear coat....but yes they still work, although we should never have to deal with that from a product produced by a big name like Strike King.  I'm gonna contact their customer service and see what they have to say.  Thanks

I 've purchased a lot of painted blade spinnerbaits from other manufacturers, they end up pretty much the same, the paint chips and falls off, some last a few trips others last a little more.

I guess the only way the paint is going to last longer would be if the paint were powder coated on the blade instead of just sprayed on.

If it is now typical of most makes, it's probably due to environmental regs, which prohibit the use of the paints which have stood up well in the past.
