  1. I am considering getting 2 Apps for my iPhone. The first would be a hunting/fishing lunar table app and the other would be a fishing journal app that would allow me to log in the fish weight/length, the conditions, take a pic, and plot it on the GPS and keep a running tab of info. What I'm wondering if anyone has used any of the iPhone Apps available and does anyone have any recommendations or feedback? Thanks all!
  2. Its official.....Hunting Run is open! I fished it Sunday. The water is still really cold and locating the fish was extremely hard(good electronics should help). I did manage to land a really decent 20" 4# LMB by slow rolling a 3/4oz White/Chart Dbl Willow spinnerbait deep. Cannot wait till the water warms up a bit and the fish get feeding.
  3. Hunting Run is my favorite spot so far and have been itching to get back out there. Wayne P., do you have the # for the Marina house? I would like to give them a call on Saturday to confirm that they are open, if so I am going to make a trip out there Sunday morning.
  4. Awesome Fish! I wish I could catch em like that!
  5. I was out there today and it was a bit tough! I caught 2 fish only. One 5 pounds and 21 inches, and a 16 inch 2 pounder. Caught both fish on the far side of the old d**n that's in view of the park launch. I found schools of shad, and bass pushing/popping them up to the surface. Caught both fish on Rage Tail Pearl Shad. You can see the old dam in the background of the second pic. Not sure about the tournaments, I would like know more. I know for sure there are members here that fish them. Hopefully some of them can shed a bit of light.
  6. I'd meet up with ya but I have to take my daughter to school at 9a.m. and I wouldn;t make it down to Woodbridge till about 9-45 or 10 ish. Good Luck though!
  7. I've heard of this before....110% Redneck! I hate the smell of that stuff ever since I was in boot camp and my drill instructors used to get in our faces with that nasty crap in their mouths and they would get to yelling and those pieces of dip would come flying out right in the face! > I'd rather dip my bait in poop
  8. I'll take a swing at it. I will assume that you were fishing the Senko weightless or wacky. The fish might have preferred that slow fall and shake opposed to the dart down of the t-rigged SM. That might have been it. If that is the case rig the the SM on a 1/8oz or lighter keel weighted EWG hook, or weightless and cast it out to the same spots and let it sink on a slack line.
  9. It'll depend on water clarity for me. Dark, muddy waters...I go with Black/ blue flake or june bug, cause they hold a better silhouette. Clearer waters I like Double header, or watermelon Red flake. Okeechobee Craw is another good color for either situation.
  10. Yeah I'm in for sure and I might have 2 more with me, let me know what the plans are as soon as you know, boat or wade so I can plan things out for everyone on my end. I'm going to assume that boats on the lake would be the way we are gonna go due to all the rain, and I doubt the rivers will be wadable by then. Should be fun either way! Let hope that the weather cooperates!
  11. Swim it, buzz it, wake it, hop it on the bottom, dead stick it, jig trailer, t-rig, and c-rig, stand-up jig and I'm probably missing a few ways to present this bait. It's too versatile!
  12. To the OP... its no surprise to me! The Space Monkey has been a top producer for me this year on some extremely tough and highly pressured waters. I'm right in there with Micro on the Space Monkey. If you haven't fished it, your missing out on a phenomenal fish catcher. Its so versatile its ridiculous! Swim it, buzz it, wake it, hop it on the bottom, dead stick it, jig trailer, t-rig, and c-rig, and I'm probably missing a few ways to present this bait. Can anyone name another bait that can do all that and effectively catch fish in each category? The price may be a little more than some soft plastics but your getting a quality bait that is packaged well so that it will not get deformed and your basically getting 4-5 baits in one. All said and done I think the Space Monkey is worth a decent shot in anyone's bag. The space monkey with still be fishable and catch fish with only one leg left on it! I might sound biased, but I have only fished a hand full of baits/lures that work on such a consistent basis so when I have full confidence in a bait I will not have reservations about praising it.
  13. Space Monkey & Jig and Rage Chunk combos!
  14. Awesome! I've been wanting to place and order for some time and haven't for what ever reason. I'm off the fence for sure! Give you guys a call tomorrow!
  15. The Rage Tail website has all the information you will need for any of the Rage Tail line up baits. The forum there, "Rage Talk," has a slew of information about fishing each of the rage baits with some interesting innovative rigging ideas from a great group of helpful people. In short you can Texas rig them, fish em on a stand up jig head(spot remover), use em as a jig trailer, weightless, top water (buzzbait), or on a swim bait/keel weighted hook. I prefer a 4/0 Gamma Superline EWG hook. http://www.ragetail.com/news/rage-craw-rigging/
  16. I use Rage Chunks, Craws, and Space Monkeys with JJ's or Megastrike depending on what the fish want that day. (I try both to see whats hot!)
  17. Using it now as my main line on my Quantum Energy PT/Mojo Plastics Rod. Used it for 2 outings so far and I love the castability and sensitivity that it has. Its not as strong as Floro and it does have some stretch like mono. Pretty visible, but not sure about glowing for night fishing, and if its as invisible underwater as 100% Floro. I really like it, although I did just convert from Berkley Vanish which I've come to find out is great on durability, break strength and knot strength but sucks in the castability and manageability areas.
  18. Sounds like there was alot of competition for food(grabbing the lure and running with it so others wouldn't take it) and a slow worm presentation may not have been the best option for the day. I would have tried something a little more compact like a swimjig, spinnerbait or something similar if that was the case. X2 If you know it was Bass then down size like I said. If they were running with it and you can see other bass following looking for scraps or dropped food, go with a jig and trailer, or something more compact so there is less chance of the fish missing the hook. Flip it into the spots and then yank those guys out fast and get the jig back in there for the others!
  19. The rage toad wasn't designed to be a floating bait like the Spro Frogs. The must be fished on the retrieve like a buzzbait, remember its not hollow. You can fish it across the top and stop it in holes of matted veg and let it sink to the bottom and most times it will get slammed, which is something you cannot do with floating frogs. You can also fish it on a keel weighted hook and swim it subsurface or at what ever desired depth like a swim bait, very deadly technique! http://www.ragetail.com/ragetailtoad.html Its a great bait, just not be what you where looking for in a topwater frog. Hope this helps!
  20. I've found myself in this situation and the culprits are most often bluegill or the like. A 10" Anaconda with some of its tail missing is still pretty fishable at 7 inches. Downsizing to the 7" Anaconda and throwing it out to the same spots will only have the bluegills biting that tail off too, and the 7" Anaconda isn't as fishable at 4-5 inches. If your using the 10" Anaconda and the bass are hitting hard and your not getting a good hook set then dropping to a 7" is definitely the right call, or up sizing to a larger hook. You can usually tell the difference between the bluegills pulling/tugging on the tail and a bass strike.
  21. I'm def interested in the Father's Day outing. I will not be bringing my daughter and my father lives in Wisconsin. However, I'm going to try and get a Father/Son team to come with me. I will keep you posted! Sounds like a lot of fun!
  22. Great lake smallmouths?....try mastering the tube, small jigs, drop shot rigged leeches, SK Go-b-gone, or X-rap Shads (yellow perch is awesome for smallies)
  23. Never thought of a Monkey/Jig combo! Seemed too big to be a viable jig trailer to me, but hell I'll give it a try! Used the Space Monkey just about every other way and caught fish with it, why not!!!!
  24. Space Monkey! (I love saying that and seeing the look on peoples faces!) ;D
