Smells Like My Garage?

Featured Replies

I keep my rods and tackle bag in my garage where they are close to my truck. Is there any affect from the smells that occur (ie the mower, cars, etc...) on my gear? Would the fish pick up on this?

If I pump gas on my way to the lake I'll wash my hands before handling my baits just to be on the safe side. I presume your soft baits are all in bags so I don't see the garage as a problem for storing your gear.

I am very careful when it comes to actually touching gas and tackle. And yes, the majority of my soft plastics are in plastic bags that are inside a plano, which is inside a cordura tackle bag. What about the line on my reels and the lures I have rigged up?

I wouldn't worry about it too much, but I think the only line that might carry scent might be braid because it is more of a "fabric" compared to mono or fluoro which are like "plastic"... Kind of like if you sat around a campfire, your clothes would smell like smoke, but your flashlight wouldn't. Am I making sense?
