Hi guys,this is entirely new to me,after fishing Hydrilla,eel grass,and the weed beds of Florida,I find myself in south Georgia,fishing an impoundment with an abundance of what the locals here are calling Coontail.My question is what type of baits work well with this type of cover,we've been using white spinner baits,in the late evening and catching a few small Bass,also been using plastic worms which have not been as productive.We are waisting alot of daylight,fishing these methods and I belive the fish are there,just burried in the Coontail during the heat of the day,the water temp is high 70's low 80's and the water is fairly clear with about 5-7 visability,besides my spelling,any info or advice would surely be welcomed

Try some gambler big ez's lane toad color. Those swim baits work great down here in south Florida.

Rigged weedless, they can be cast into the weeds.

Coontail Moss (usually called just "coontail") is found in nearly every state east of the Mississippi R.

It's a free-drifting plant with no true root system, so it normally colonizes in backwaters

and places with low water exchange.

As with any submergent weed, coontail calls for a 'highly' weedless lure like a swim jig.

If your jig is too light though, it'll ride up and over every coontail clump.

go in and get 'em...dipping a t-rig worm or jig into holes will produce. or if you must use a spinnerbait, kill it and let it flutter down into holes and breaks.

1/2 to 1 ounce jig, 50-60 pound braid and heavy flipping stick is all you need. Oh yea, don't forget to wear a lower back brace.
