OK so i havent been active on this site very much in the past few years. But time to time ill stop by and check the forums out to see whats going on, and I can honestly say, everytime this site gets updated it frustrates me.

2006 bassresource layout > this new one...these ads are pretty ridiculous, and im sorry for all you anglers out there who arent very computer saavy but this site dosent NEED ADDS TO BE FUNCTIONAL, its a bad joke.

The domain probably cost about 100-300 dollars a year at minimum, and I have been an admin on multiple forums. It dosent cost money to add text and news posts.

Just saying the site used to be a lot nicer and easier to navigate, now it just looks ugly I mean for gods sake, the demensions on the avtar dont even look right..

Well maybe glen will get rid of the ads and you can start paying the expenses.. I have no problems with the ads as I come here to learn by reading others posts. As for the need to be "computer saavy" the site hasn't changed in that regard at all. The only changes came from new and updated graphics. I think the site looks good and the best part is the mobile version. Good job glenn!

I'm used to the site now, I'm happy with the way it works. If Glenn can make a buck there is no reason he shouldn't.

There's a lot more cost in running a site this big than what you think man. Plus, these ads probably pay next to nothing (the ad's on my site only bring in like 1 to 5 cents per click) Google ads doesn't pay well at all... Glenn and the other mods put a lot of time and dedication into making this site what it is today, so the ads are a tiny price to pay for their work!

Dont mistake your ignorance with technology for a poorer layout. I post on NUMEROUS forums and by far this one is the slickest I post on. The features are great, if you choose not to use them its your prerogative. That being said, this forum > your ignorance for technology.

Dear clueless: It costs several thousand dollars a month to run this site. Domain registration fees are but one small, minor snippet of the total expenses.

I don't understand why people think that this site is harder to use now. There are a lot of upgrades that users do not need to worry about if they don't have "computer savvy". It is much easier to post now than before. If someone doesn't have a facebook or twitter account to link to, or want to use the gallery or other features, DON'T. Stop complaining about the awesome upgrade and ask politely for help, and the users of the forum will gladly help you figure everything out.

(Ad ***) and (No Script) are add-ons for browsers and will basically remove all advertisements for all sites(unless you tell them not to). It can also stop malware from infecting your computer. People sometimes put these in advertisements so when you visit a site and it loads that annoying flashing banner guess what else it loaded. It's known as drive-by malware even though you didn't download any thing or open a file someone sent you all it takes is for that banner to load and that's it. Hope this might help and good luck.

Also FYI please don't fall for those stupid commercials saying they will speed up your pc and blah blah. It's a scam and they install unwanted programs on your pc and show false positives about viruses you don't really have so you buy there software to remove a virus that never existed. It should be illegal and they should all be jailed for taking advantage of people who don't know better. If you still feel the need to buy there product you see on TV send me the $ instead and ill come to your home and smack you really hard.

Well welcome back mike. I was wondering if you feel off the face of the earth.

I cruise a lot of forums on the web. I think this one is really the only one that uses a different lay out. Most of the forums all have the basic layout. I liked the old layout better. Now that I am use to this one I really cant tell a difference other then looks.

As for the price to run this site. I think it might cost more then a few hundred dollars a year to run this site. I go to a few dozen forums and a few have donations links. You click on the link and they will have monthly goals. Most of the forums I go to have a 500-1000 dollar a month server bills.

If glen needs to sell adds to make this site free. I am fine with that.
