17 Year Old Angler From South Florida!

Featured Replies

Hello and welcome to my South Florida's Largemouth Bass fishing forum. As I stated in the title, I am currently 17 going on 18 years old. I have been fishing for over 4 years now and fell in love with the sport ever since I casted my first cast in Coral Springs, Florida. With over 4 years of experience for fishing for largemouth bass, I can honestly say that fishing here in the South Florida Everglades and canal systems has been as hot as it's ever been before! For anyone familiar to Parkland and Coral Springs area, just last Tuesday, the 3rd of May, my friend and I went out to Loxahatchee Road prior to stopping at a local bait shop ( 4 Points Market ) to pick up some live shiners, and we managed to pull out about 10 bass in between the two of us, and one was exceptionally beautiful, weighing in at close to 3 pounds. The sucker just swallowed the shiner whole and didn't even try to swim away UNTIL I finally decided to reel up and re-cast did he try to put up a fight. I will have a few pictures up of the bass very soon. I was also wondering what hooks are the best to use when using these live shiners ( circle hooks or not? ). I have done alot of fishing from an Oldtown two man canoe recently as well. And fishing has been very productive on the canoe in the canal systems down here. Using green plastic worms and a 2/0 worm hook, the bass just can not seem to resist the urge to bite at the swift movements of the bait. When it comes down to the best time of day to fish for the Largemouth Bass here in South Florida, it seems as if the evening hours, ranging from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m, are the best times to go out. Plastic worms seem to be the chosen bait for the bass. I wish to share many more stories and pictures with you guys as i progress threw this forum. Thanks for stopping by. Look at for new pictures !!
