Quantum Energy Spinning Ptib

Featured Replies

I am looking to add another spinning set up to my collection and I was wondering (to those who have used one or have one) what you thought of the Quantum Energy Pti-b (the E30) performance and drag capabilities. If you have any other recommendations that would be appreciated. I was even looking at the Shimano Saros F. Anyway i'm looking to stay under the $200 dollar range.

thanks

I have the e20 reel and find it to be a very capable reel , just a little heavy but it gets the job done. :)

A very good drag.

Thanks, I'm definitely considering it

I have the Catalyst in the 20 size, basically the same reel and the Energy. I love the Catalyst and haven't had any problems with it at all, great smooth drag!

I have a Pti-a 30 I'd sell you, it's used but in pretty good shape. I like the energy spinning reels. They feel solid and have a really good drag

Could you attach a pic as well, thanks

it has a few battle scars. I'd take 80 for it.

I have a Catalyst PTi-A and B 20 as well as a Kinetic PTi-B 20 and the drags on all of them work great. I caught the fish in my signature which was 5lbs. on the Kinetic on 6# test Cajun line and the drag worked great. The Energy would be a couple steps up from the PT reels I have but I'm sure the drag would be great as well.

Quantums have great drags, my cabo 30 has handled dozens of fish well over 20# where other reels of the same class have a bit more difficulty. One of the best in it's price range.

Quantums get a lot attention down here.

I have a bunch of the Energy PTi along with Catalysts and Tour Editions and they've all been nothing but great.

i have (well its my brother-in-laws, but he doesnt use it as much as i do) a catalyst ptib 20, very smooth reel with a pretty nice drag, the only problem i have had with it is in cold weather the anti-reverse works about 20% of the time, otherwise it spins backwards on a hookset about a turn and a half before it catches. the reel works fantastic in warmer weather, but based on that, and the fact that about half the fishing in wisconsin is in cold weather, i wouldnt get another.

also, for the price of an energy (retail, anyways) take a look at the new supreme xt pflueger, couple ounces lighter, just as smooth, and a great drag as well.
