5/12-Lunchtime Fishing

Featured Replies

Hello everyone! I wanted to share with you all my lunchtime outing today. There is a pond that is about 5 minutes away from my work that I like to fish. I have been there 3 times this week with some pretty good results. I was with a coworker today and I nailed a couple of fish that I was proud to catch in the 45 minutes we were out there. One of my favorite things to throw is a BPS Lazer Eye Nitro The Egg in chrome shad. This thing seems to really do great for me. I was throwing it today and felt a fish nail it. I thought it was going to be a typical 13" bass like I have been catching out of there all week. Instead I was surprised when I landed this:

I could not believe it was a crappie and that he had the whole crankbait in his mouth. This was the biggest crappie I have ever caught. A few minutes later I had hooked into something that was really putting up a fight. The past couple of days, the carp have been going crazy in the shallows, so I assumed I had snagged one of them. I was ecstatic when I landed this pig:

I don't carry a scale or tape measure with me, so I have no idea exactly how big she was, but my coworker said she looked to be about 3 lbs. He is a tournament director and has weighed a bunch of fish, so I am going to go with what he said. I usually do not have such a great outing with two huge fish. Huge fish for our area that is. Those were the only two fish I caught today. My coworker only wound up catching one. When it was time to go back to work, I was not able to concentrate for the rest of the day. Good thing we are slow. I just felt like bragging a little bit. Thanks for looking and good luck to everyone! Chuck

Very cool man, I wish could fish on lunch break. I could at least shed a few pounds instead of stuffing my face. Anyway I have caught some good sized crappie on red eye shad, I was really surprised about that too.

Couple of nice fish there! It's amazing how aggressive crappie can be when they are hitting. Just last Tuesday I caught a couple on a Strike King Rodent flipping docks, they weren't even that big. I fished a tournament a few years ago when I couldn't keep them off of my 3/8oz jig that I was flipping in trees, never would have guessed.

I get Crappie bites on my T-Rigged worms all the time man. Haven't managed to hook one yet but I feel them pop at it all the time at a local reservoir I go to.

That's a Good fish Chuck and one heck of a Lunchbreak... WTG

I had a small pond near my last job and yeah it will sure make the rest of your work day better being able to get out for a little bit.

Thanks guys! If you can tell by the pics, I can stand to shed a few pounds as well. I was surprised about that crappie especially since it had inhaled my whole crankbait. Weather here turned horrible, so it may be a bit before I can get out again. Thanks again! Good luck to everyone! Chuck
